I'm hanging out on a bench by the box office for the time being if anyone is around. Got the poster too - it's awesome.

See that you are now. Did you hear any of these soundcheck rumors or did you just get there.

Doubt they'd open with Squirm again since it opened last year. Hoping for JTR but would take something new like, say, Seek Up. :)

Do you really think the band remembers stuff like this?

"Oh we opened with that last year...played that last year...blah blah blah"

Other than songs like Halloween, and others of that nature, I don't think they remember.

The band members themselves may not remember. But I'm sure someone from within management gives Dave a copy of last years setlist from that specific venue and he writes his new set off that.

even if they do remember, i'm pretty sure they don't care. my buddy is across the road in the grass and said he heard some lyle lovett... this is not to say that they didn't play monkey man, just saying he def heard some... he thought it was house music too, not the band playing it

I have seen them say in interviews that they check what they had played the year before at a specific venue. I think that is a line of crap because I always get repeats at the same venues.

the band is absolutely aware of sets previously played at venues they're at...esp the last set played

dmbpsu41

even if they "absolutely" know, as cworty put it, they will still play what they want to play. it might keep them from repeating too much for the 15000th time, but they still do that so how much do they really care? either way, it's not important.

anyone else got an opener picked?

I thought I remember reading that Dave (or somebody, at least) looks at the previous year's setlist when writing the setlist for a given venue...

And is this talk of a Monkey Man soundcheck serious or just messing around? I haven't backread yet, but posts on this page seem too chill if a legit Monkey Man soundcheck just happened.

dmbpsu41
07-09-2010, 07:28 PM
yeah it used to be stephan and carter making the set lists with dave and they would consider past set lists. doesn't mean they remove or add songs b/c of it.
(read this in "step into the light" a '99 interview i think -- could be wrong)

if the setlist from ants/dmbsetlist bears any weight, tonight's gonna be out of this world...would the tour guys really drop the setlist 'by accident' or is this all some hoax to tease and tittilate our senses?

EDIT: they just took it down...hmmm...now i'm even more curious! (especially the song 'che'???)

This has a long way to go before it beats Alpine N2. All good songs, yet all were played on Alpine N2 with the exception of Pig and BEF. If Hershey gets a Two Step and a great mid-run without Can't Stop, then we'll talk.

I know, but you see where I'm coming from right? Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if Dave would be shocked to hear that people don't like Cornbread. The reaction to it is always positive at shows and I doubt any fan has had the balls to tell him they don't like it to his face. I agree it's going to take a while for them to go away. Until then, they aren't hurting anyone (at least not physically ;)).
