I second this comment.

Also, I feel like every year we talk on here about how shitty the GA area is behind the reserved field. Now we're going to be talking about how shitty the front GA area is going to be this year. I can see it now..riots an hour before the show because so many people are jockeying for position front and center :BANG

I will be nowhere near Hershey, Pennsylvania on July 9, because as much as the venue already sucks it's going to suck that much more with a full GA field. What a joke.

i agree with you 100% a full ga field really sucks. this one little change completly changes my opinion on the entire venue!

01-26-2010, 06:32 PM
Ok, so lemme get this straight... the whole field is GA right?!

Who's dumb idea was this GA thing, why have people been members of the warehouse for so long to get this crap, give me a break, This turns everything that I loved about Dave ticketing into everything I hate about all other ticketing, I don't want to fight all night just to see a good show from good seats. I would go to Burgettstown but I don't even see that on the list this year, was so looking forward to seeing the Zac Brown band too...

How is the Scranton venue, I've never been there... might be this year though.

Zac Brown Band sings that country/rock song "Chicken Fried"... they also do a kick ass cover of "Devil Went Down To Georgia". They're a southern rock/country group. Our fiddle player has played with them before... I'm sorry I'm gonna miss that group!

i MIGHT do hershey. whats it like sitting in the stands? can you see the entire stage well or is parts of it blocked by various stuff? would it be best to get the very first section or the 2nd or 3rd where the angle is less but you're farther away?

no obstructed view but you are at an angle... looking at a 45 degree angle... but you're elevated above the field and have room to yourself. you'd only be obstructed if you're ALL the way next to the stage (first section, end of the row)... but i've been to hershey 7 times and prefer the grandstands... reserved field wasn't bad either

what would be the best section to get for the stands?

seems like the first sections are kinda meh, but like section 7 would be alright. would you say thats the equivalent to like being off to the sides of the 200s at a pavilion? i've done reserve field twice and was fine (im also tall). but i hate the idea of GA. so if i go, i'd definitely be getting stands.

EDIT - what section would give me a view like this video? i'd be content with that again.

Also, with the entire field being GA--the front will be closer, more expensive GA, but still GA--anyone who wants the best seats should consider grandstand. Sections 7 and 26 are probably your best bet. You avoid the extreme angles but can still get close.

At last years show Dave said ' were going to slow it down and then fizzle out' yeah the whole show fizzled out compared to '08. Now, if your upfront in GA and have to piss you will never get back to your original place. At a cost of $75.00. One more thing, Dave will be at Alpine putting on two great shows ( he loves it there) and then Hershey. I have a feeling this show will fizzle out too.

Now their is absolutely no point to go to Giant Center Box Office feb 12th nd stand in line like I have done previous years. This was probably the dumbest decision ever made. Good thing my rents are moving to Virginia, can any1 tell me if the Virginia Beach show is worth going to??

Rain-free or not, I'll be sure that you don't enjoy the park, as I will be working there. I'll figure out who you are and...do you ride roller coasters? If so, I'll be sure to e-stop one of the ones you are riding. :)

In any case, I'll be at Hershey, probably working in the park before hand, and then at the concert! I was hoping to go to PNC the next day, but I've opted to go on a cruise in October/November instead. So the only way I'm going to PNC is if I some how come up with some additional money.

Can't be any worse than last year. I paid $35 for a ticket and didn't ride a single roller coaster because storms were within 30 miles. Weak.

thanks. that does seem very similar. i think i may try for section 7 though, just so its not as harsh of an angle. it would make for a better dvd. :evil i'm thinking i don't want to be in the very first row through, just so no one can directly see the camera.

question about the rows though. do they start at A and have AA, BB, etc at the top or is AA actually row 1 at the bottom? i think it remember hearing AA-EE are the first 5 rows and then A after that, but i just want to make sure.

Oh, it could be worse. Such as, being on a coaster lift when it starts raining and then the ride breaks down. If you're on a ride like the Great Bear, then you've got track lubricant dripping on you when you're 90 feet above the ground in a thunderstorm.

It sucks even more when I've had to walk up the lift and hang out until maintenance could get the ride running. Sure, I get a ride with a roof, but I'm stuck in the rain anyway.

Oh, I certainly don't doubt it, and more power to those that want to deal with GA...though I also don't doubt the chances of having a good time in the GA section will be diminished :) (or at least it would be for me...maybe I'm getting too old).

Im planning on it, although with the weak show last year coupled with this awful GA, its not a lock. I dont like that you essentially have to stand there the entire time or risk losing your spot. No beer, no piss, nothing. That's just a horrific decision.

I had grandstand last year (for free!) in Section 7 row AA, so Im going to shoot for that this year if I go. Ironically enough, Im thinking the good grandstand seats are going to sell out faster than the $75 GA.

Yup. Me too. Last year was my 10th anniversary of going to Hershey, and I guess it was my last. I have come to love Hershey because in the past few years I always could count on kick-ass seats in the first 20 rows of the field. I've been in the grandstand twice, and it's not near as good as what I have gotten used to. I guess I've gotten spoiled. Oh, well. Now I'll just stick with Camden. It's closer anyway.

im asuming (back) is the same as every year, So is front like 1 huge section that covers the old sections A, B, C, D, and E?

GA = first come first serve, as always. I'm not sure how they'll set up the GA Pit there... would make sense to be at least the front half of B (the equivalent of the orchestra section at a normal amphitheatre) if not A-C

the entire field is GA, split into front and back. A-E are all GA. theres no actual GA pit, its just the entire field.

Everyone has to bitch about somethin on here man. Hershey isn't the best venue for sound and shit like that but c'mon it's a great time especially if your campin out too. As for general admission in the front of the stage that kicks ass in my opinion. You don't have to spend a thousand dollars for front row seats anymore, so what if you only see a song or two from the front. Dave said himself concerts are so much better in Europe because he see's people into it and dancin and shit, this is going to make concerts so much more energetic.

Anyway I have been to 17 shows, so it isn't like it is a newcomer opinion I think it is an awesome thing with the GA the way it's going to be. I saw them 6 rows back in camden two years ago and that was a highlight in my life man it's the best. Anyway if you haven't seen it heres the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Fyt6Mh5En4 he talks about the crowds over there compared to here and how people in the states are probably havin fun in the lawn but he can't see that, hence why they are doing this.

I'm 50/50 on this GA field deal. half of me thinks that it will be sweet because there will be fewer people (since so many are going to the grandstand) so it will be a great time, but the other half doesn't want to deal with all of the roudy, pushy fans. We'll see how it looks. if the GA front is sold out, then I'm definitely sticking with the grandstands, but if it's not... i may venture down to the front

Yup. It's closer anyway.

don't have time to read through all of these but this sums it up, thanks for being so greedy DMB and squeezing as many people into the front area of the stage and forgetting about the WHers that supported you for years. hope nobody gets killed and the injuries are minor.

Whitey! What shows are you doing?
delayed response!!!
I've been riding the "what shows do i go to" rollercoaster this month. Financially I should take a summer off... but that won't happen.
Originally I was going to do Atlanta, Riverbend, Charlotte, Scranton, Camden x2, and maybe Utah.
After realizing I can't keep forking out cash for trips like that I settled on the 2 closest - Atlanta and Riverbend.
Then our lead singer planned our schedule so that we'd have 4th of July weekend off cause he's never been to Alpine and is planning on taking our band RV up there for a weekend party and wants me to go along. So I decided to cut all my shows and just go to Alpine.
Then he told me he's gonna make it a week long DMB pilgrimage and do that Camden x2 then road trip it to Alpine for the weekend. So I'm thinking of adding Camden again.
Then he tells me he has an inside source friend with the Atlanta show and we might be able to score some sort of special passes... so now I wanna add that show again...
then at our show in Louisville last weekend I met someone who has a good friend that works at Riverbend and always scores her and her friends great seats... so I want to add that again.
I may just say "screw it" and figure you only live once... despite owing roughly $3000 in taxes this year, I'm trying to make this work:
Riverbend, Atlanta, Camden x2, Alpine x2

RVs are directed up to the area right near the stadium actually...along with all of the tour (not the band, but people actually going to the park) buses, school busses, and other RVs. so you will be tailgating by yourself (next to all the old folks that bring their RVs) if thats your plan, lol

I had to wait until today to get my tickets. Went to the arena box office thinking I would do better then buying them on line. She told me the best she could give me was section 8 or 25. I went with 8 to avoid the setting sun in my face. Anyone know what the view is like from section 8?

they should be good seats as long as you are not too far to the edge. i have sat in section 25 before and had a nice view of the stage

the front GA im assuming will go back until where the pathway between the floor seats and the usual GA starts. and then the back GA will be where it normally is

Have fun up there.

Ive been to concerts where its this type of setup...it totally sucks. (Bunch of them at Hershey too) ya cant move anywhere, people are all up on ya, etc.

Hopefully they kept the size of the area in mind when deciding how many tickets to issue down front....but doubtful.

i think you only get in early for the ballpark shows but i could be wrong. if you can get in early i would say right after soundcheck which could be any time depending on the usual rain we get :shrug

AHAHA yea the rain is always intense!!! but on the warehouse site it said

For arenas with a GA Floor or stadiums with a GA Field, we are going to offer early entrance to Warehouse members pending no delays with the band’s sound check on the show day. Warehouse members with confirmed tickets for GA Floor/Field will receive an email with instructions and details closer to the show date. Please refer to the Warehouse Ticketing Guidelines and Ticketing FAQs in the Ticketing section. Please direct any questions to whtix@davematthewsband.com.

I think Hershey qualifies as a GA Floor but it says Warehouse will let us know the details so I hope we can get in earlier.. I see it happening

there's like 10,000 front GA tickets, another 10,000 "lawn" GA tickets, plus the stands. why would you think it would sell out in 2 days? thats A LOT of tickets.

Harrisburg has never gotten more than 30 inches of snow before. I don't really see getting 42 inches.

i think the 42 inches is total for the winter. last week i heard we have about 32 or something like that, but usually get another 6-8 in march which would bring us close to the average snowfall for a winter, which is 42 inches. its not getting 3-4 feet of snow in one storm.

Total seating capacity for concerts is 30k.

Seating capacity for football/soccer setup is 16k. That leaves 14k on the floor, not 20k.

6 sections arent even used for the DMB shows, so theyre probably getting 10k in the grandstands.
