HA to each their own dude. It is getting annoying that fans are still moaning over sets in mid to late june. I was at Riverbend and it wasn't the best but had some good songs. Then i was at both nights at Deer Creek and had a blast with some good shows. Its all what you like.

People love Cornbread... we don't cause we go to multiple shows a year and follow every setlist... But playing shows to mostly radio casual fans and college frat boys 2-4 times a week has shown me that Cornbread is a casual fan favorite. We get shout outs for that song just as often as we hear requests for #41 and Halloween.

Or how I've said since it happened that Alpine -- which I was NOT at -- was easily the best two night stand of the tour, and that before Scranton, Alpine N2 was 2nd only to Camden N2 for best of the tour?

I think tonight's is worse personally - at least you can dance to Can't Stop, and I like the Bayou jam better than the Cornbread jam (if you can even call it that).

Still, tonight's setlist is one I can see myself mulling over 20 or so years from now while sipping a glass of fine cognac by the fireplace. It has everything -- a little tragedy (why wasn't I there tonight? :lorraine), a little comedy (that encore :lol), and a whole lot of epicness.

part of this i think is song placement, moreso than song selection. i mean, i get that alot of people on here disliek cornbread or want it to take a break but let's say that sister and cornbread were in the main set and the encore, taking 2 songs from tonight, was this:

take sister, and put it where some devil was and open with the stone and put cornbread before DDTW and people would be freaking out morso than they were before this encore started.


point is this: they're playing OSW w/ the intro, they OPENED with minarets, the stone appears to be on a regular rotation, the reemergence of LIOG, the Big Whiskey songs are GOOD (tho, sometimes overplayed for some folks). and, basically, if you're not there, why care about the encore when you have these other amazing tunes to listen to when the tapes are released?

It goes further than that for me. Both shows got Pig and Stone, so those two are washes. Also, as great as Minarets and Lie in Our Graves are, that combo doesn't touch #41 > Nancies > Warehouse to me. Set closer goes to Camden N2 easily with Two Step over Jimi Thing, the encore isn't even close, and on top of all of that, tonight got 6 BWGK songs.

That being said, I still think tonight's setlist was awesome and unique. That encore is absolutely horrific though.

I'll never forget how I felt leaving Montage in '06 after hearing the Can't Stop/Bayou encore (especially since all tour long, they'd been segueing Can't Stop into Crush). I promised my friend Annie Crush and it never came. That encore was such a GUT PUNCH after hearing a set in which there was a PNP-->Rapunzel opener, Last Stop, LLD, LIOG, Grey Street, and a monster Ants to close the set. My friend Jordan, a diehard DMB fan, immediately bellowed, "I'm out of the fanship!" after Can't Stop/Bayou. It really is hard to get the taste of a horrid encore out of your mouth. TRUST ME. It was as if they said, "Let's get the f*&% out of Scranton so we can jet up to Fenway." It was dreadful.
