A bit of a discrepancy betweeen the two bands tour pages. While Dave lists them as support for both Alpine shows, ZBB has them listed as playing only on Saturday night. Hmmmm.......

Not if you're persistent :lol
To answer your question though, I can't think of any instances off the top of my head in the last 5 years or so where two different bands have each opened one night of a 2-night stand, so I'd venture to say that ZBB will indeed be playing both nights of Alpine.

Couldn't be more accurate. I try to pop in and at least check out what is going on for the bigger venues besides the ones I actually attend, but I have given up on reading anything in the Alpine thread. i don't care about the 5 or 6 Alpiners who feel the need to post, what should be, their private conversation instead of talking about the show, the venue, or the band.
Congratulations on competing for the thread with the most posts on Ants/year. Learn how to text message or make a phone call. Guess there is not much else to do in Wisconsin if you're a Dave fan. the venue is in the middle of fucking nowhere. It may be the easiest venue to avoid. Hit WPB or California before you trek out to Wisconsin. Or better yet, anywhere in the northeast. Spac/Camden/Hartford/VA.
Now back to the OP topic, who the fuck is Zac Brown Band? JK. I just like to poke the bear. No offense intended.

You sir are an idiot. This couldn't be more of an ignorant post. Also, the majority of the people chatting back and forth don't even live here!
Yes, a lot of people chat in there, however not once has someone asked a question that I didn't either respond to or somebody else answered.
Also, how is that any different than any of the other threads? They're all full of people who are going to that venue or go consistently and therefore "chat" in there with the friends they've made over the years.
Just a completely useless post on your part. Thanks for contributing to the community :thumbsup

Do you consider the nonsense that goes on in threads like Alpine/Deer Creek "contributing to the community?" That, SIR, would make you an idiot. But, you must not of read my entire post. I did say "no offense." Way to resort to the lowest common denominator, which seems to be a theme on these boards, and call me an idiot. Name calling, and not point proving, is really insulting yourself. Say something worthwhile next time. Oh wait, if you're part of the Alpine gang, then you will just talk about what you ate tonight or what movie was on TV. Thats not useless at all<sarcasm. By the way, go fuck yourself. it's not nonsense though....people are getting to know eachother and talking about things they enjoy talking about....there is a lot of DMB, venue, and show talk as well, and when anyone brings up something about the band and such we will usually spend several pages discussing it. For the DC group we have brought a lot of people together, are coordinating a large DC ants gathering (up to 40 people so far). So to me, this is contributing to the community....and whenever anyone new comes to our thread and has a question we always respond to that and welcome that person to the thread and encourage them to stick around. That's contributing to the community as well.

Haha you're a fucking joke. Did you not see my post, that said if I don't answer their question, someone else does? Or Groton's post about him answering questions? No you clearly didn't cause you're too busy trying to stir the pot and be a fucking douchebag. That thread differs in no way from any of the other threads. Everyone in almost all of the tour threads are trying to stay connected to each other, and organize their little meet ups. Not sure where else they should talk about that other than the fucking venue thread.
You say what we're doing isn't a contribution to the community (yet people are sold tickets in those threads, given information, offering extra space to people if it's available), but what the fuck contribution do you make by making ignorant posts like this and the one I originally responded to?

Barntotheish: Yes, we use the Alpine thread to chat with our friends in there. We do it because we're all going to be at Alpine this year and because Alpine is probably the reason we all know each other. Stop being a tool, come into the thread, ask whatever you want to know about Alpine, and we'll happily chat about it.

Thank you for saying what I've been thinking for years. There are 10 or so offenders that are significantly worse than the rest in that thread specifically. I hadn't gone back to the Alpine Tour thread in a while, so just to be sure things hadn't changed I perused pages 155-164, and yup - it's the same story...people making posts when they wake up to wish "everyone" a good day (or when they go to bed to say goodnight), people making literally one-word posts, people talking about what kind of day they are having, and a lot of useless dribble. I noticed there are a lot of women in that thread which probably adds to the chit-chat factor of empathizing, saying hi, using too many emoticons, etc.
What I didn't find surprising is that right after you posted this, one of the overly defensive forum dwellers called you out and tried to rally his defensive cause by pleading his case to the other forum dwellers - almost if he was acting as the official alpine valley thread dignitary. Said DMB erudite used such exlempary language like, "f*cktards," "ignorant f*cks," "do*chebag," and "as*hat." I don't think we need to beat the horse further, but we're on the same page. What's a shame is that this same dude tokes up - I'd probably be good friends with him if I knew him.
Do those same people give out assistance or advice when newbs ask for it? I'm sure they do. But unless you have a good reason for being in that thread, it's pretty much a void of information. I don't find the WH boards much different; a good tip I learned from a DMB vet is to simply PM one of the experts your question or insight inquiry and you can expect a pretty informative, helpful response. The last time I did that on these forums I had my question answered in less than 10 minutes.

You Alpine threaders got pretty defensive. I did ask a question about camping in there, I got one reply and it was incorrect. After I searched the internet for an hour, I found my answer.
So ease up. My original post was that if you do post something in the Alpine thread, in 2 hours its 3 pages behind because people want to post pictures of monkeys and say good morning, and everyone forgets the question. Not hating on that, do what you want in the thread. Doesn't bother me, but there was good reason to post this outside of the Alpine thread.

I understand your point, but what the particular poster said about WI and the Alpine thread in general was ignorant, false, and completely unnecessary. And to validate being a dick by saying "No offense" when it clearly is intended to piss others off is just as stupid.
Sorry you didn't get the right answer, and just to let you know, most of those people either don't camp or only camp at Bong. It's ok, you can call me out too buddy. I hadn't decided to use such language till I was told "Fuck off" and clearly being fucked with. I have every right to defend myself, or others, when someone says something as useless as that guy did.
I understand not everyone wants to go in there and chat, but are these people really that afraid to be persistent and ask questions til they get what they're looking for.
And I wasn't trying to "rally" anyone. I just was asking if anyone had seen this guys posts. How is that wrong? Why shouldn't we take pride and not let people talk shit about us? I see valid points from both points of view, but when you base your argument off "You will never get an answer, there's nothing better to do in WI, I just want to fuck with people and stir the pot" you can't expect people to not speak up and argue with crap like that.
So, I apologize for using language you find offensive. I'll make sure to tone it down a notch. Kinda hard when you spent 6 years in the Army, and have had to deal with people just as if not more ignorant than the poster I called out. I'll make sure to change that for ya :thumbsup

Fair Enough. ZBB will likely be one of the first openers I've gone in for at Alpine since Guster. At least it's not Robert Earl Keen...he take's so much crap on here, I had to look him up... terrible
ZBB FTW

I've been lucky enough to have UM twice (4 I guess) and the Black Crowes which I love, and the Roots. Those have been my favorite openers at Alpine since I started seeing the band there. Didn't make '03 or '05 because of the Army so I'm not sure who opened. Overall I've had good luck with decent openers, this one just doesn't interest me. I'll be in early enough to hear a little of their sets, but it's mostly so I can walk around and what not and enjoy the venue when it's not full.

UTTAD83, I want to extend a truce. I initially just wanted to agree with an earlier poster who said what goes on in some threads is "useless chatter." This clearly got out of hand and I just wanted to express an opinion. I dropped the F bomb, you called me an idiot, I retaliated, you re-retaliated. Whatever.
I don't know what the big deal is with the ZBB either. I am sure I will find out this summer when they open at Citi Field. At least we call all agree and cheers to our favorite band, DMB!

I haven't given him much of a chance, but didn't see it. I dig Grace Potter though, since I saw her on the first cruise.

Agreed - it's a welcome change and they should be kick ass guests reminding me of when the Roots came on.

Fair enough man :thumbsup I just was trying to make a point that you can't say things like that and not expect people to fire back. What's done is done.
As for ZBB, they just don't do it for me. Like I said, I'll be in early enough to hear them at least one of the nights, but I don't plan on making it in strictly to hear their set. Not a horrible band, just don't like the music much. Maybe they're live show will change my opinion :shrug

I actually don't want them to open for them at Alpine again. You can't get the true UM atmosphere in a venue like that half full. I'd be fine with a break as well.
I really really wish Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals came back and opened a few shows :thumbsup My all time favorite opener I have seen.
As long as the opener isn't Angelique Kidjo, I'll be a happy person :lol

Yeah I'd love to see other guests like when the Roots came out. Taht was an awesome weekend :thumbsup Any of the shows with Govt. Mule opening are lucky as hell having Warren Haynes there. Gotta believe he comes out for at least a song.

So ease up. My original post was that if you do post something in the Alpine thread, in 2 hours its 3 pages behind because people want to post pictures of monkeys and say good morning, and everyone forgets the question. Not hating on that, do what you want in the thread. Doesn't bother me, but there was good reason to post this outside of the Alpine thread.
dude... the Alpine thread is NOTHING compared to the Gorge, SPAC, and Deer Creek threads, post-count-wise :lol

Not if you're persistent :lol
To answer your question though, I can't think of any instances off the top of my head in the last 5 years or so where two different bands have each opened one night of a 2-night stand, so I'd venture to say that ZBB will indeed be playing both nights of Alpine.
