I live near Chicago, and am looking to pick up a Bogen Light stand before I head out to Deer Creek this weekend. I want to get upwards of 12-15', is there any place in the city where I can get one? I've not been having any luck with the local camera shops, maybe someone knows of a place that might have one. I could get one online, but I'm not sure if I could get it in time for the weekend.
Right now I'm using an On-Stage foldable mic stand, it only gets up to 9', good enough in a pinch, but an extra 3' might be good. Is there any way to extend a regular mic stand, maybe a bar with 5/8 thread on both ends and a 5/8 nut?
