Ok guys, I am working on making a fully interactive site for my server. It will basically give you information about what is on the server and most likely will also include a better version of the FTP FAQ. So I am asking you:
What sort of information would you want to know about my server if I had an interactive site for it?
Thanks.

ehh lol Joe and I are doing something like it too(The Trading/FTP faq that is). Oh well I guess another one will just add to the resources:D.
as for information on your server:
-when it was started
-how much data/bwith you have shared to users
-how many shows/data(GB) are on your server
-how long has the server has been on for
-take a pic of your server or list components of the server and links where to buy the components
-ehh bio on you...
hope that gave ya some ideas

So the 16 others who visited the thread. Do you want to see anything on the page or is it just a waste of my time?

Hi Matt,
One thing that I think would be useful is the ability to see what shows your hosting on your server without having to logon to your server. This way I won't tie up a slot browsing what you have.
Another feature that I think would be nice would be the ability to post requests from your collection. I think this is going to be valueable as time goes on and everyones server fills up with 2002 shows and displaces some of the older shows.
From recent posts I've read, maybe a section in your FAQ regarding converting shn > wav and back to shn is needed (since I don't think this should be done!). One of the nice things about MKWact is that its easy to use. One of the downsides is that its easy to use. Unfortunately I was a victim of downloading a shned show that may have been reconverted from audio to shn since the md5 file didn't match any of the ones I found on etree.org. Although the show still sounds great, I don't want to trade the shns for fear of polluting the trading pool. I would be willing to place $$ that many people downloading or trading shns don't check them against the etree md5 library. Maybe I'm concerned over nothing here, but it would be nice if we had some rules to all play along with.
Hope this helps.

The basic code is available through a few sites. http://www.wiredbots.com is one of them.
I'm working on writing some portions of it, and a lot of the pattern matching I'm going to have to write myself, but thats the fun part. A very basic version should be up and running soon.

do you have to clone aim so you can run 2 of them at once or does it run on its own prog?

I'm right by that big door that has the really crappy server sitting next to it, you can't miss it!

You don't have to clone AIM. It's all done using CGI scripts so you just run one of those from the command line.
