Musicians friend is really Guitar Center, where i've bought one of my guitars at. So they are backed by a fairly large and reputable company. My friend at work, a guitarist for over 20 years, swears by musicians friend as the cheapest and best service internet music site around. Just my .02...

The issue with buying a guitar online is this.
Good guitars are made of wood. Wood is like human beings- no two pieces are the same. If you take five guitars of the same model by the same company even made on the same day, all five will sound different. You have to have the guitar in your hands before you make an informed decision on whether or not to buy it.
When I bought my latest guitar, there were three on the rack. One I loved, one had a duller sound, and one had higher action. The one with higher action had been there for months and simply needed to have its truss rod adjusted. I have no idea why the sound out of the other one wasn't as rich. But, honestly, had I bought the guitar online I would have had a 33% chance of getting the guitar I wanted. Those aren't great odds when you're making an important purchase.

when you are me, guitars are guitars ... 6 strings and a soundhole .... sure wood is important, but the sound comes from the player

The majority of music shops will match musicians friends prices, so for big purchases support your local shop.

I just ordered an amp off there, and i am awaiting its arrival, it shipped today on a voyage accross the country (Oregan -> PA)
