Please Let Verizon Wireless Campground know how you feel about this years "No Campfires Allowed" new rule for Deer Creek 2010!
-Just wanted to see how much this ban on ALL Campfires will affect what was considered the best Deer Creek camping venue for DMB :BANG
Camping without a fire is NOT camping :ugh

2010 VWMC Camping Info
All policies will be for both DMB and Phish
DMB Camping dates and prices:
The Campground will open Thursday June 17th @ noon and will close on Sunday June 20th @ noon.
A three day camping pass is $85
A two day camping pass is $75
A one day camping pass is $65
All passes are sold per car.
If you wish to vend anything your price is $150 regardless of your arrival date.
When we open on the campground we will now be utilizing gate 6 (off of olio road) there will be plenty of signs directing you there. We are going to park cars in sections this year.
The first section that will be parked will be the 'section' that the showers are in. We will fill that section and the large section across the drive (next to 146th street). Once those sections are full gate 6 will be closed and you will enter/exit through gate 5 (where you have always come in and out in the past)
Camping- You will parked by vwmc staff in a certain direction and have the area behind your car for camping. There will be aisles for traffic to come through. The actual size of the campsite is 35 feet long and 15 feet wide.
So there will be more concise areas than in the past.
If you are vending your spots will be in the same areas that they always have been.
Group camping- I know this is of some concern for most of the ants. I am still trying to figure out the best way to do this. We would have to use a separate section for group camping and you would still have spots of the same size. One thought is that you would have to pay upfront for all the spots that you want to be allowed into the group section. I'm still working on this.
Some things that will be different this year:
No indoor furniture of any kind will be allowed (couches, love seats, recliners, etc...)
No fires even if they are "controlled"
No charcoal grills
No volleyball courts
No Pools slip n slides or other water structures
No pets (unless they are a service animal)
Damage to property will not be permitted under any circumstances. This includes but is not limited to: digging or creating holes, creating ruts with a vehicle, damaging or removing fence panels, creating fires, tampering with restroom facilities.
We are doing away with reservations this year. You will be able to purchase your camping pass online though, and you can purchase them on site.
- Hard to fathom.

Yea - the couches were out of control. But now you cant bring furniture either, which would prevent a huge fire.
Furniture ban would have sufficed...how lame :(

Perhaps y'all shouldn't have lit your furniture on fire and started a riot last year. :lol :lol :lol

EXACTLY!!! Two ingredients caused last years problem, fire and furniture. You only need to ban one!!!! No furniture. No furniture. No furniture.
How can you camp for 3 days and not have a campfire. Campfire's are nature's TV...oh yeah, and they cook food too...

I don't see the big deal about "no campfires." Campfires aren't allowed at the Gorge. :shrug

Venue campground is lame anyway. dead Creek was always the best time.
And are you really that shocked that they don't allow fires anymore? Thanks to our wonderful fellow fans. Let's see what else they can ruin for us this year.

This.
After last year, how can anyone not expect something like this to come down from the higher ups?

it was an expected change because of the couch fire, which is why our group of 30 people will be at Dead Creek this year instead. we had a really good time at the venue last year and it sucks that the couch fire ruined things but the new rules are a little too much for me. you can walk from Dead Creek and it's a super chill environment, so we're headed there from now on. also, i like campfire smell in my hair when i camp thx.

You're right, Dead Creek will end up crazy packed and this is exactly why I'm trying to make sure my group understands how important it is to get there on Thursday!
