I ve been wondering...
1. What do tapers use to tape shows?
2. Where do you get these things, and how much are they?
3. How do they decided who's going to be the taper of each show?
4. How do they determine who gets to tape through the soundboard?

well they use microphones and DATs, etc.

DMB does not allow soundboarding recording anymore, stopped 1995/1996.

I would head over to dmbtapers.org(email one or two of the tapers and they might explain it) or wait till a taper sees this post. Basically anyone who is going to the show can tape a show. They do not pick any specific people to tape a show.

The equipment can be expensive. I forgot the site that lists all this stuff but they can and do exceed $1000.
