Personally, I don't have the money for a computer worthy of it nor do I have two years of free time to learn how to properly use Pro Tools.

It doesnt get any better than protools, thats if you have $15000 for a cheap setup, Cool Edit doesnt even compare, but then Cool Edit is just a program, pro tools is software and hardware. I know a guy that spent $65,000 on a pro tools set up, and he doesnt even have everything yet, he said he plans on spending another $20,000.

I hope he plans on making some money back on the whole setup.

Yeah he paid off the first set of equipment he bought in about a year maybe a little longer, he does a lot of recording, he does demo's for smaller bands and then usually does there full album, and he does a lot of other big bands albums, so he got it paid off pretty quick.

That would be really fun to do. You'd get to hear all the new talent. Then later on see if they go big at all.

This isn't even close. ProTools is a pro editing suite. I've used it in music production, radio station imaging, commercial production, and remixing. It truly is awesome, especially with some of the plug-ins that are out there. It's even better if you have an outboard mixer with the digidesign hardware...

Cool Edit isn't bad for home wav editing.

They each have their place, but ProTools is an amazing application. Granted, most casual home users don't have such tools at their disposal. It's like the difference between Microsoft Paint and Adobe Photoshop.

(I hear there are some PTs floating around on Kazaa... if you wanted to 'check it out')

depends on what your doing... for wave edit, CEP.. for mixing e.t.c.. Protools...

my dream is to have a CEP and PT mixed, so double clicking a WAV in PT will open it in CEP
