The kind with the plastic back. Does anybody have one? Have experience with one? I like like the way they feel, but the sound, at least unplugged, is kinda odd sounding. They're also priced right for me, not that price will be the deciding factor. I'm just keeping my options open. Cuz they also come in some cool colors! :)
Let's hear your opinions.

Like the Ovations? They sound alright. i'm not a huge fan of them. My old singer had a couple of them. They're pretty good live because they don't feedback as much. And they're cheaper which is good. I've heard the ALvarez Yairi is pretty cheap and I've played them too. Much better sound for a cheaper price.

i think guitars like ovations are good if you're plugged in, if not i think the sound suffers

I have a cheap Ovation imitation, and my friend just bought a Ovation imitation by Dean. I never liked the body style, and I think the strings are too high off the fretboard.

ive had a celebrity ovation for a little over a year, and its ok
you need to be plugged in, which in my case sucks cause i live in an apartment and noise is frowned upon, but they tolerate just the guitar
i just played an aria, yes an aria this weekend, its the only guitar ive played since i got my ovation, and lemme tell ya, soon as i can im selling the ovation and getting a full bodied guitar. the sound from just the ovation makes you sound worse than you actually are, i agree on the action, too high. i couldnt believe the sound i was getting from that guitar i played this weekend, and it was a shitty aria and i think i sounded much much better, as well as other folks who told me, also the body might be too shallow for me, it moves around a lot on you when your playing, and full bodied guitars are just so much easier to play, for me anyway
bottom line-
get an ovation if you have a nice acoustic amplifier and you have a band and you need a stage guitar
do not get an ovation if you do not have an amp and a band

i own an ovation and so far i'm satisfied. But the only problem is that you have to change the strings much more often because with a plastic back, once the strings get old the sound does not resonate as well and the guitar will basically sound like shit.
