I have a guess as to how this will turn out, but I'm curious to see actual numbers. :)

How come there is no option for loving the song?

I don't mind the message, but the execution is flimsy at best lyrically. I think the song is well produced and it sounds good though, so it's like a 5-6 out of 10.

This is pretty much right. If there are better songs on the album (and I feel like there will be) it'll be easier to ignore because the song does SOUND good.

Poll could be worded better. The message in the song is to help the world evolve into a better place, who doesn't like that message?

I don't care about the message the song is just par for the course DMB wise. Hopefully its one of the weaker tracks on the album.

Message? Fuck the message...I don't care about that at all. It's a decent song. No more, no less.

The guitar and horns have me excited for the new album. They're excellent.
The lyrics sound like the runner up submission in a junior high poem contest.
It sounds "better" live as concert vocals can sound mumbled...easy to tune them out if need be.

poll fail. Why are "love" and "hate" the only two options as far as the message Dave's trying to convey???

The children singing the lyrics at the end of the album version. It gets under my skin. Love the music though, love love the guitar opening

Only one other guy voted for the last option? Lyrics are cheesy, and the message is cliched. Don't like the song.

There will never be enough poll options to please all people. I could put 20 options up there and someone would complain. Stop reading into it. :lol

We didn't define "message" here. I think many people are under the wrong assumption about this song. If you think the message is "save the world" and/or "vote for obama" then of course there's a big hate-fest. The song is cheezy under those pretenses. I'm giving Dave the benefit of the doubt that it was inspired by a NatGeo doc or something along those lines.

Yeah, I really don't see it as specifically endorsing a political party or candidate. There's a lot more wrong with the world than just a few politicians. He's singing about modern attitudes, he's singing against apathy and laziness. And I don't feel like I'm trying to convince myself of that--the only reason the lyrics feel particularly tinged is because it's an election year.
