Hey ya'll..
My acoustic guitar doesn't have a spot to hook on a strap at the base of the neck like most guitars do. It does however have one at the base of the body.
Do they make something for guitars that don't have a knob at the base of the neck? I've noticed a lot of guitars don't have that "knob".
Thanks,
Mark

I think most people use a little piece of string or shoelace and tie it around the headstock right behind the nut underneath the strings.

many straps will have 2 holes just incase you have 2 spots to hook the strap in, but in the case that you dont.. one end of the strap should have string hanging off... hook the bottom end of the guitar to the end without the string.. then tie the string on the otherside to the left of the fretboard, right under the strings

What kind of guitar do you have? You can install strap button on the heel pretty easily assuming you know the proper location for your guitar. Here are some links for Taylor and Seagull, plus a general web page on this:

I did it on my S12+ no problem. Drilled a pilot hole and screwed it on after rubbing some candle wax on the screw. I had one put on my Martin for $20 and after I saw it, I was determined I could do it. Just be sure you get a felt "washer" so your finish isn't scraped any more than necessary. Check your local shop.
Attaching the strap to the end of the neck by the nut is not the best idea as it adds unnecessary tention to the neck. Plus the strap seems to get in the way and the guitar doesn't feel as stable. Hope this helps.

yeah, none of my guitars had the strap button. I went to my guitar shop and bought a bunch for less than a buck each. Just please make sure you PRE DRILL the hole for the button. You may have disasterous results if you don't.

Just let the guys at your local guitar shop do it. It is cheap and they know what they are doing.

The best thing to do is to install a strap pin at the heel. Either by yourself or a pro.
If you don't want to do that, there is something you can buy to attach the strap to the headstock. It's a leather band that goes around the headstock that has a strap button on it. It is better than a shoelace because it will not wear away the finish. I can't find a link to it, but they are out there.
