Very bright sounding, a good counter to a bass-oritented wood/body. Tone will last longer than anything I've ever played. Their downside is that the D's and G's have a tendency to break for certain hard, rhythmic style. Vs. D'Addario, their tone will last much, much longer, but the D'Addario's won't break as often.

Ive been meaning to strap on some elixirs, ive been a d'addario man for a long time and it'll be hard to sway me away, but with all this talk about the nice sound and life of the tone, I may have to give these guys a shot.

Here is my take on Elixer's and D'Addario's....Elixers are nice but they are freakin expensive, they last longer which is a big upside, but to me there is just something missing in there tone... D'Addario, I like them while they last, the bad thing is I have to constantley replace them, I would go through a set a week, they dont last very long, the plus side is they are a pretty cheap to buy. My favorite strings are the Martin SP, always had good experiences all around with these, bad thing is they are kinda expensive also...My favorites right now are the Ernie Ball Earthwoods, I think they may be new but dont quote me on that, they are cheap to buy and the tone is awesome, and they last me a long time, not as long as the Elixer's. Elixer's I generally have to change about once every month and a half if I play the guitar they are on all the time, the Earthwoods, i can go about a month on them and they are still awesome. i play all the time, at least 6 hours a day, 7 days a week. That may give you a little info on theses strings..

The important thing is though, not what we think about strings but what you like, I know a lot of guys that put nickle wound electric strings on there guitars and love them, its all in what you want.:)
