View Full Version : My Awful Sounding Low E!---Elixirs?

I just picked up a set of elixir strings for my acoustic and my low E sounds awful. I thought mabey String height or mabey to adjust my neck, but no. Is this what Elixirs sound like at first?

What kind of guitar? Real wood or glued sawdust?

Real solid Wood, Ive had it for 2 yrs. This is the only time its sounded bad. I just didnt know if this is how elixirs sound at first. I ussually use DR or Martin uncoated strings.

what's wrong, does it die out quickly or is it muffled, or not as loud as before? maybe its just a bad string - you get that sometimes. they're slippery though arn't they. I got elixers nanowebs on my guitar now. Very bright sounding but I find they lack something. I'm gonna go back to D'Addario phosphor bronze.

It wasnt my string. Sorry!
My Pin on the bridge was slightly broke So it rattled.
It sounded so muffled and I couldnt find where it was coming from. Thanks everyone for the help and advice

elixirs bite ass. d'addario phosphor bronze are the original shiz on the niz, my friend.

I love elixirs. They sounds great, and last 3x as long as most others. Especially if you play outdoors a lot.

i don't like the brightness of the elixirs but i do like medium d'addarios i can't remember the exact name...they are in a black/red package

I like elixirs cuz they're coating and my hand just flows over them like it's nothing. Plus even though they are more expensive, since they last longer it's the same cost. I tried d'addario coated strings, didn't like em. There's a store in town that sells a set for $15, so if I can pull 3 months out of them, since I don't play shows, I'll be fine. I do play a lot, 3 hours a day probably, but it's not 3 hours non-stop. I dunno, maybe it's not 3 months, but I still love them and would buy them even if they only lasted a month.

I just got new ones today actually. They sound SOOOOO nice. Makes The Stone even easier to play. :):):bounce
