standard tuning is (low to high): EADGBE
1/2 step down means you will tune your strings (low to high): Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb
there are several ways to do this. You can use a chromatic tuner. You could use a piano if you know where the notes are. Or you could use your own guitar, given that you have it in standard tuning to begin with. If you have it in standard tuning, you would tune the 6th fret of the 6th (lowest) string so it sounds like an open 5th string. Next you would tune the 5th string down so the 6th fret on the 5th string sounds like the open 4th string. Then tune the 4th string so the 6th fret sounds like the open 3rd string. Then tune the 3rd string so the 5th fret sounds like the open 2nd string. Then tune the 2nd string so the 6th fret sounds like the open 1st (highest) string. Then tune the 1st string so the open 1st string sounds like the 2nd string 5th fret. That should do it. In my opinion, its a lot of work for not much result.

another easy way to do it if you have a tuner. Put the capo on 1 and tune down to standard tuning, when you take the capo off you'll be 1/2 step down. :)

I'm a dumbass...
that's frickin genious woodman. I've been playing for 3 years now, have had both a capo and a tuner and haven't thought of that way which would be 10 times faster.
Again...I'm a dumbass...
(not being sarcastic)
thank you. :freak
