question about tabs

in a case like that-and how do you play that?

it means you mute the string....rest your finger on it so that when you play it, there isnt really any sound coming from that string

so in the tab i made up would you just play the three strings w/ numbers or do you only play strings w/ a 0, like in this case

In that case, you would strike all of the strings with the pick. With your fretting hand, you would have the fourth fret on the A string fretted with your index finger. Your index finger would also kind of rest on the D string to mute it so it doesnt' make any noise. Your pinky or ring finger would fret the sixth fret on the G string. The other strings would be left open.
