Why is the download area going so slow?

If you'd had scanned the topics in this area, you'd have gotten a feel for what our HTTP server is all about. I even posted a newsbit in the HTTP area - that browsing folders and logging into the server would take a little time.

There's an issue with the session timeout, sometimes. For now, go on as usual. In the future, we hope to have this fixed :)

Matt,This may e in a FAQ or covered before, but why can't I use a program like DAP to schedule my dowloads? or, why can't there be a way to hit ONE link and download an entire show at once?

I know one reason download managers aren't used is because some (like DAP) split files into parts and use mutiple connections. I'd assume another in because they don't want stolen links from people who use such programs.

The whole "click one link to download a show" would probably require some sort of script allowing someone to queue downloads on the server, which I guess would create more overhead on that machine. Which is doesn't need...it's already taxed to all end due to all the users here plus any extras who have migrated from the Archives over here. But no biggie.

The timeout seems to be around 2-3 total minutes of inactivity (meaning NOT downloading a file, browsing, etc...basically being idle and not doing anything on the server), but I'm not sure. Logging in takes a while, but browsing is pretty quick for me. And I'm pulling about 30k/sec now...which is just fine. :)

By using a third-party download manager, there is no way to ensure that only members of the antsmarching.org community are downloading.

Figured that there was a reason, but wasn't sure why..

Re: timeouts, sometimes right after the file finishes it's made me go back and "log in" usually after about 4-5 files..

Anyway, back to downloading!
