hey guys, i thought this would be the best place to ask:
I do a fansite for a kickass Vancouver band, and we tape some of their shows. I only have 500megs of space with my web-host, so I cant host all the shows...
What would you guys recommend for sharing them in a structured manner? I've thought about using Bit-Torrent, but I'm not too sure.... my user base isnt uber-computer-adept, so I need to keep it simple. Shows usually go form 70-200megs a piece (high quality mp3s (yes, i know, i know))
suggestions?
danke

well for $10 bucks a month at www.hostrocket.com (dmbwallpaper.net uses hostrocket;)) you can get 750 megabytes and 30 gbs of transfer.
the only other suggestion is using bit torrent like you mentioned.
how about you change the shows every so often?
i'm thinking though...

well here is the best idea...get the band added to the etree archive and then you have unlimited space for shows.

okay, so I added the band and basically summed up the trading policy... now it says that the band is pending (here (http://www.archive.org/audio/etree-band-showall.php#Stabilo_Boss))... so does that mean i have to upload a show.. or what?

you need to get someone from the band to email the archive at this address:
etree@archive.org
then their status will be changed and you can start uploading shows

i dunno about that...haven't done it yet...but you need to have a taping and trading policy published on the website. should be easy enough though. don't you have email like webmaster@"bandname".com?
