Just wondering if anybody knew if there was a big performance difference between the Shure sm58 and a samson mic like a R21 or an R11. Was planning on getting an sm58 til I heard that samson made good mics and they are cheaper to come across. Not a huge deal, just $20 difference or so. Thanks for the help. BJ:bounce

SM58 is good for vocals right? I was wondering what is good for instruments such as acoustic guitar or even micing an electric guitar amp?

SM57's are standards for electric guitar mic'ing- but they and the SM58 have the same circuitry and the only real difference is the windscreen. So a 58 should do just fine on an electric guitar amp- would work well actually. As for other things such as acousitc, they aren't totally suited, though it will get decent results. It's a great vocal mic
