What should I get/buy?

:confused: This is my first post on this message board :) ..... I am extremely interested in learning to play the guitar (acoustic of course) but I am lost as to what brand would be best for me, cost, etc. I don't have a ton of money right now to spend, but at the same time I don't want to buy a guitar that I am going to be dying to sell once I actually know something about it! Also, I took piano lessons for 3 or 4 years when I was a kid, but I am not really sure if I can pick up reading music again. My second question is regarding how I should learn.....get tutored lessons, or try to learn on my own? I am probably going to dedicate this entire summer to learning to play the guitar so hopefully I will have some handle on it before I go off to school. Any help would be appreciated....Thanks

I'm sure you'll get a better response from other people about which guitar, but as for lessons. Since you already have 3-4 years of piano, I'm sure you understand some music theory already, so you could manage doing it by yourself. As long as you understand how to read tabs (I recommend looking around www.dmbtabs.com), you'll be just fine learning by yourself.

You made a great choice of instrument to play, it's sooooo much fun and relaxing.
