I downloaded mousetrap and desire. Maybe i need to download more but i have no idea how they're "punk" in any way, and "rock" is questionable as well (as per their site).
mousetrap is cute. desire bores me. the guys voice isnt so strong, the harmony that the backup singer gives is out of key, and i just felt it was very uninspired. if you can tell me another song to download that might change my mind please do, and please tell me if this is like a one off accoustic gig and theyre really a punk/rock band.
honest opinion, thanks for sharing though :)

Insecurity is a harder song. It's more their full band sound. The studio tracks toward the bottom of the list are from 1998, and the quality is questionable on those, but that was some 4 years ago.
Relief is a good rock song. The one up for download is a studio track. That too was from 1998. There will be a new studio album coming out in a month. I have a few unfinished tracks from that album (missing a couple solos, vocals are present, but not quite mixed perfectly yet). I might post some of that to the site later.
Falling Stars reminds me of the chord progressions to Crash Into Me, although Tim the singer / songwriter doesn't care much for Dave Matthews.
Away We Go is probably the strongest song up for download at the moment. It's not rock and roll, I don't know how to classify that.
And then there is Hit The Wall (http://www.dr-distortion.com/mp3/hitthewall.mp3). I don't know about this song. To me it's lukewarm, but for whatever reason, it really flys with the crowd out here. Lyrics are odd. High school testosterone, I guess. The studio version is strong, they play it out crazy electrified, and acoustic, it takes on an almost country feel. It is an enigma, but it's the one the locals request.
You know, I think I will convert / upload some clips from the new album. For now, check out Falling Stars, then Away We Go. By the end of the week, I'll have up Indecision (Great song!) and Callout.
Thank you for listening Erich! These guys are just fun to be around, (see Possum Song (http://www.dr-distortion.com/mp3/possum.mp3))they put on a great show. It's just hard to hook people with MP3s, you have to see them live to "get it".
Are they a rock or punk band? I'm not sure. They were more punk ish in high school, I think they've evolved to be more alterna-rock. They can be the Smashing Pumpkins, they can be Allice in Chains, and then they can be the Blink 182 depending on the moment.

Erich - I got the three track demo MP3 made up. It's all studio material from their upcoming and as yet unnamed album.
Electronic Press Kit demo (http://www.dr-distortion.com/mp3/DRdemo.mp3)
The track contains a little over a minute and a half of three songs, Indecision, Callout and Bad Mixture.
I guess from these three songs, I'd call them alternative rock.

ok, listening. honest opinion...
I cant stand this guys voice. Its really off-key, especialy with the added harmonies that are sometimes painful (callout chrous was exceptionaly bad singing). I think the only time it was ok was the Indecision chorus. The music is simple alterna-rock with this little edge that leans towards them wanting to be heavier. The hooks are... theyre catchy but not catchy. You can tell they were written as hooks, but they dont hook me honestly. that and the lyrics are simple alterna-rock lyrics, therefor i cant stand then.
Obviously just my opinion and nothing personal to them. with a little work on the singing i think they could sound like any other band on the radio right now. Whether thats a good or bad thing is up to their perception :)
