Johns not too difficult...Some of his stretch's are beyond Daves but still manageable. I used to be able to play about 70% of his stuff except for Neon. Good luck & Practice will get you through

yeah, although some of his songs aren't too difficult, there's a lot of his shit that I find harder than Dave songs. Two totally different styles but two Excellent rhythm guitarists and musicians.
My Stupid Mouth is a good one to start with if you want to learn his shit.

I can play most of Dave's songs, but just can't seem to play JM's stuff. I find it quite difficult.

easy mayer songs are my stupid mouth, why georgia... your body is a wonderland... those are good to get a feeling of mayer cords while still being fairly simple

yeah, i can play a lot of it, just have to play it a lot.....i think the key is using the thumb, you have to watch him a little or get some tabs with fingerings....because he loves to use his thumb on everything he can.

your body is a wonderland isnt a good one to learn..............but if u sit down with no such thing and why georgia , ull get it eventually.

the most challenging thing for me with some of mayer's stuff is his right hand work. Trying to fingerpick why georgia or a live version of the solo section of your body is a wonderland is really frustrating to me. On a related note, am I the only person who loves the tone he gets out of a Strat?

Yeah, i can play most of his stuff...He's jsut really annoying with his chord shapes and they way he changes things to his liking contrary to how a normal person would play it.

And his solo version of neon...yea thats impossible. He probably practiced that one song for months.

Also, so many of his songs are similar and involve so many chord changes that i usually forget them or mix songs up
