ok here's the deal...I am gonna buy this black guitar...it is gonna be REALLY cheap for me so it works out!!! brand new with a new case...now I was just wondering if it can be painted...what I mean is, I wanna put a long stem purple rose towards the bottom of it and have some glitter paint all of it...would it mess up the guitar in any way? has anyone ever done something like that before? thanks!

I think it can but it needs to have a top coat as a seal or something.

You might be better off having some sort of decal made for you of your design that you can stick on.

Otherwise you're gonna have to paint it on and hope it comes out right.

decal would be better. I don't know how well paint would adhere to the gloss surface.

yeah, I agree a decal would be much better. For the paint to stick well, you would have to sand it first.....

i painted my fender electric. i sanded it down everywhere, including the frets(which i had to do by hand and took a long time). If you want to paint your acoustic you should take all the hardware off of it before you sand it, including the the pickguard(you should probably use a chisel or something to pop it off). You might have to buy a new pickguard, but they're cheap. Then, paint away, and do something original. After you're done painting, get a spray paint can of gloss urethane. Spray it over a bunch of times lightly. Stop spraying it when you think the coat is thick enough. Then put the hardware back on. Mine turned out great and hopefully yours will too.

hey, thanks a lot...hmm...sounds like a lot of work...I was kinda hoping to just paint the rose on the bottom (like covering the whole bottom) and maybe throwing some glitter paint over it and then covering it all with a clearcoat...but I guess I gotta look into it some more...thanks though!

im thinking that you might not have to do all that just to paint that little on, you could probably paint it on and then add another coat of gloss to seal it on.

i donno bout this cause i have never tried but you might be able to just sand a small part and then paint on whatever. dont go on that though cause im neither smart nor basing this on anything.
