Last year at polaris night 2, i sold my extra to some random person, I get to the show and meet them there to give them the ticket, they never show up to their seat, not only did i have extra dancing room, but i was also on the aisle.

OK I just want to post right now that I think he's gonna open the tour with What You Are to establish it as an opener this year. I'm really not happy that I've come to this conclusion but thats just what I think.
Here's to praying for a BOWA opener!!!!!

rockyracoon
06-04-2003, 11:22 PM
i don't think they will start the first show off with WYA. honestly, i wouldn't care if they did because i like the song a lot, but i hope they don't do it for night 1. for show #1, i'm hopin for any of the following for an opener : bowa, ants, billies, the last stop, or seek up. are any of those realistic? probably not, but that's what i would like to see.

Mongoose
06-04-2003, 11:23 PM
Ok since we dont have a time yet I say we set one. The gates for parking open 2 hours before showtime. That means 5, now if we are going to have 2 hours to grill and hang out then the start time is 3. But if you add in the time for people getting there and taking stuff down, and cleaning up, a possible beer run and anything else that adds up we should probably give another half hour. So the start time should 2:30. That way people stuck in traffic and just generaly late will arive between the then and 3. Does 2:30 sound alright to people or do we have any other suggestions, besides that I work on my spelling.

I never thought I'd get a BOWA opener on my first show on 5/11/01 but it happened. ;)

Thats a pretty good call. But I'm worried I'll overindulge and forget the whole concert like I did at starlake last summer.

I've tried to set a limit of 6 beers or 2 waterbottles with captain&coke. I can smoke the whole time and be fine but if i get too drunk we could have issues.............

Yeah I know what you mean 8-6 is a tad bit hazy, I'm gonna have to set some limits.
I'm pretty sure I'm only going to drink like 4 or 5 beers at the cookout and then I'll probably smoke during the concert that gives 2 hours between sitting down and the opener, so I'll be good by then and remember everything prefectly.

ok here it is:
Hey all! I live about a half mile from the amphitheatre. I used to work the stage crew and some security out there but I am going to tailgate anyway! So here are some tips for you all because they are really bad about busting people for anything from drugs to underage to open container. THEY DO HAVE SEVERAL UNDERCOVER COPS AT EVERY SHOW IN THE PARKING LOT!!!
1.For mixed drinks keep them in dark cups which hide the alcohol and if possible a water bottle that can somewhat conceal the smell, without the sight or smell there is no probable cause.
2. For beer it's a toss up because they will even get u for open container if they see it in a clear cup so try to hide it as best u can.
3. Don't take it in.... YOU WILL GET CAUGHT..... I knew the guys searching me and I was sent out because they caught me at the gate with cans of beer. As a side note it was very well hidden in my boxers and I only had two cans in somewhat loose pants.
4. If you want to smoke (weed) do it inside. You won't get caught nine times out of ten and they also sometimes pass it up if they see you or ask you to put it out but they do have cops and security on the roof at various points watching the crowd. It is still safer on the inside though due to the many undercover cops, one I knew of was 24 so you would never know he was a cop if he walked up and talked to you. Another I knew of was a 25 year old girl who looked 18 and she was hot! So just be wary of strangers!

I hope this helps out somewhat. I just hate having a great time at a show and seeing fans carried out to waiting cop cars. Well I will be the guy drinking somewhere at Germain with last minute tickets so if you see me stop by and say hi! Maybe I'll even see you in the parking lot... Look for the guy with the pink water bottle!

The KOCO isnt in the parking lot though, so the undercover cops wont be waiting in the the little road, but come one people its common sense.
If you look young, dont be holding a beer in the parking lot, pour it into a mcdonalds cup or into a water bottle. Something with a lid, if you have a clear plastic cup with amber colored liqued of course its beer.
You want to drink captain, simply open a coke and pour some in.
Want to drink a beer, put it in a cup with a lid and dont make a big deal about it.
Want to smuggle stuff in, dont bring in cans, I smuggled a flask into both day one and two
Want to smoke a little bit of that somthing right. Roll joints, its alot harder to pat down two loose joints than it is a big glass pipe, secondly a joint looks like a cig. Do you really think that security gaurd thinks you have tobbaco in your glass pipe.
Just be safe and have a little bit of common sense.

hey all...my friend and i are getting together tomorrow to plan out logisitics for our trip down to c-bus. i think we're planning on getting someone to set up for the KoCo around 2. hopefully we'll be able to check in early at our hotel, if not, we're planning on splitting the cars up and having one take the stuff to the hotel and the other car(s) head to Polaris. we've also got a friend who's in c-bus on an internship for the summer, so he can get to Polaris as soon as we want him to. but we definately want to have plenty of time to cook out, and not be rushed or anything. of course, everyone can roll in when they want, since it's not like this is a formal affair...but we could make it black tie :)

so do you all seriously think we can hit 3000 in less than two weeks? we've got more than 650 posts to go. i don't mean to be the sceptic, but i don't think we can. maybe we need ben wallace to give this thread a little pep talk. then again, the pistons did get swept by the nets, so that might not even work. :lol

Does anyone think that if we got a last stop chant going, like they did that one time for two step we could get them to play it? If we could get at least 50 to 100 people chanting, group mentality would kick in and eveyone would follow, pretty soon we'll have a last stop encore.

If the weather is like it is here today for KOCO it would make for an awesome night. I'm taking advantage of not having classes or work today by going to the driving range and possibly the Par 3 course after that.

i'll have to ask my co-pilot. it all depends on if he wants to leave his truck or not. he has a dakota, which would be good for the cookout. we can meet up or somethin down the road and follow each other.

So I re-strung my guitar yesterday for the first time in a long time... and i left the hangers on there, was gonna cut em off later, my damn cat comes along, starts playing with the strings, knocks the guitar over, breaks off the end of the nut... so my low e string flies off the side, and there's nothin to hold it in there. I tried krazy gluing the thing back together, doesn't work. I take my guitar to the music place... $50 to repair it. Dammit. And I'm without my guitar till Tuesday. Oh well, at least I have my brother's old electric to fool around on. That makes me angry.

Sure its going to be at 2:30 on the entrance to parking lot B on day one. Bring a grill if you want, or just bring food, I'm sure someone will let you use their grill. B-dubs is the after plan right now, to avoid all the trafiic leaving. so basicly 2:30 parking lot B. Bring some food, lots of people and anything musical if you play.

Pretty darn good...being a teacher definitely has its benefits...it's called summer vacation! So I haven't done anything worth writing about for the past couple of weeks.

Tomorrow I am making my occassional trip to Nashville, which should be fun.

Hello everyone,
I just got back from Kings Island and I am cracking a few beers, or maybe 10. That place was great today, not a big crowd, short lines, and I know Cedar point is way better, but it was a pretty good day!

Hey Mongoose, I just figured out SUAD. It's quite simple, and in drop D, my second favorite tuning next to open G.

I should also note I keep my guitar tuned down half a step because it makes hitting the high notes easier for me. So for KOCO, do you want to tune down or should I tune up?

Sometimes your name intimidates me.....prelaw? YOU are one of those smart ones....and besides that, I envy your ability to play guitar well....by the way, tune down!

And don't worry about grammar bacause:

1) I am from a small hick town in Tennessee...you should live here a week and hear how people talk!
2) You should hear MY accent
3) I teach math, not English....so just be sure you know how to add and subtract!

Why, yes. My first Dave experience came at AmSouth on July 25, 2001. Junior Brown opened. Billies was the first song. #41 was thirty minutes long (with Bela Fleck and the Flecktones). And Dave teased #40. Still, by far, the best concert I have ever attended.

How about yourself?

Yep, I was there! And I agree that it was my favorite of all time, and I was at MSG on 12-21-02! It is cool because Bela shows up often there (Amsouth). I was also at 8-7-98 (my first DMB concert) and 7-9-02. They also played in Knoxville on 5-8-01, and I went, but nothing compares to Amsouth!

That's exactly what i started out with... some easy Ben Harper songs... haha. I didn't even try to start memorizing chords... I was never a music reader type of person. I just kinda started out with some easy stuff, (#34, Typical Situation, PM) and worked my way up... I just got down Nancies, BOWA... its a great feeling. I really think most people have the ability to play guitar... cause i know a LOT of people who can, just gotta keep on tryin. It's frustrating a lot. I've stopped playing and taken like 2 month breaks at least 3 times, but I always come back to it, it's just a lot of fun.
