Yeah, I know Mountain T.O.P. Is that camp church related? I had a friend who worked there an entire summer....I can't believe that you actually passed through Dunlap! That is entirely insane considering the fact that you can almost blink and miss it. I hope that you took the time to have a quick conversation with one of the many locals.....

Then you realize that Amana and I really ARE the normal one! No, really, it is OK living here....very friendly and down-to-earth. And I like the scenary....living here in the valley with a mountain at the front and back door.....

I STILL can't believe you were in Dunlap!!! Did you think of us? :D

we're leaving friday morning at 8am. we're stopping in Chicago for the FREE Guster concert, and hoping to get to the campground around 8pm.

i still have you number programed into my phone. i won't have it one sometimes because i'll have no way to charge it once we leave, but i will have it on all day saturday to make sure we get you your tickets. i can give you some back up numbers just in case as well. i believe ellen has a car charger for her phone, so once i find out she's taking it, i'll give you that number

I've got N Culbreth's copy. How amazingly incredible does disc 2 look/sound? That has to be one of the best discs out there. But that is just my opinion though.

no we weren't. we were drivin up D rd. and there was a huge line of cars. i figured it was just the traffic to get into the lot because alpine has the worst parking procedure i've even seen. but we knew something was wrong when 4 or 5 ambulance's raced past us in the line. soon after that people got out of their cars and started to chill out. jon and i threw the frisbee around for a few, had some kit kat bites and some DR. THUNDER!!(excuse the pun) then some officer's rode by on 4-wheeler's and let everyone know what had happened. i must say it was a bummer to hear about that, but at least everyone who was struck is o.k. . the shows were awesome, and night 2 was possibly one of the best shows i've seen. the shows weren't even the best part of my weekend, though. jon & co. are some of the most amazing people i have ever had the pleasure of hanging out with. i had such an amazing time with all of them and i am sad that it is over. i just hope we can all do it again sometime really soon.

the highlights were both of the polaris shows this year. both were incredible. another highlight was the encore at the palace : BOWA and two step. and my most memorable highlight is definately the entire trip to alpine this weekend. i spent it with great people and had an amazing time. and the concerts were good too.

Hey guys! We just got back from our "Alpine vacation" last night....and we had a blast! Some thoughts:

Alpine is a cool venue. I have never been to a place with so many people (fans, drunks, whatever) in one place to hear DMB! The lawn was so steep and kept heading toward the sky...it was huge! So, I could not believe how big the place was...

I had a great time at the shows too. I personally liked the set for night 1 better, Amanda liked night 2 better. Difference of opinion, but both shows were great. We REALLY thought that they were going to close Night 2 with Watchtower, and that was a disappointment.

Parking at Alpine is hell.

We didn't even know about the people being struck by lightening! I just read the above posts....we also saw the police vehicles go by....that is insane!

Jon, Ryan, and everyone else.....we enjoyed hanging out with you all the first night, how was the second for you? We were thinking of coming to your camp sight before the concert, but we were sidetracked sightseeing! :rolleyes:

Also, a side note, we had a great time seeing Chicago....we had a lot of fun (and funny) experiences.....(like the time I looked up and was driving up a one-way street...the wrong way! And we realized this when the cars were racing toward us!....sorry Amanda, I just think it is too funny NOT to tell!)

OK....I have a few funny stories to tell......

I have read posts about people pissing in the lawn at concerts, and usually I was like, "No way!"

But....I am a witness that this COULD happen, if not for very fast instinctive reactions taking over....(read on)!

During night 1 at Alpine, this girl comes up behind me and stops....she has her pants unbuttoned, and she starts to unzip them begins to get in the squatting position. I turn and look at her and she says, "Mind if I pop a squat?"

I was so shocked, and usually I am a pretty calm, level-headed person, and I try to not be mean, but I grabbed her waist and jerked her upright and screamed, "NO!!!" then for an added effect I yelled "NO!!!" again.....she walked off.

First, I can't belive I actually touched her, second, I am proud of myself for being aggresive (I didn't want piss streaming around my feet!)

But, I still thought it was pretty funny!

Did anyone stay to watch the people sliding and falling in the mud at Alpine night 2? :lol

It was so funny....I took several pictures and I can't wait to get them back. People were falling and rolling and sliding down the hill as they were trying to leave, and we were using their unfortune to our benefit by watching and laughing at them while cheering them on with the crowd.....

It was cool, because most people were laughing themselves and having fun playing in the mud. This one girl pretty much lost everything she had trying to make it up the hill, but damn it, she held onto her cigarette!

Aside from the annoying topless girls, we had pretty decent luck with poeple around us on Night 2.....we had a guy that was pretty cool and was a big fan....he was good at calling songs.

Anyway, we REALLY wanted and thought he would play watchtower as the closer that night. The guy said, "If he starts playing What You Are I will spit and leave!" Well, what do you know, he picked up the electric, and played the first chord and the guy was true to his word! :lol

We laughed so hard! (And yes, he did spit! :lol )

it's a shame that guy feels so much animosity towards a song. i was really feeling the watchtower vibe all night, and i was disappointed for about 10 seconds when i saw the electric. WYA is a high energy song, and is always fun to here. i'm convinced that most people hate it because of the album it is on, which is sad.:rolleyes:
