OAR! Seen them at OSU before and It would be sweet to see DMB come out and warm up with OAR probably during "Poker". I am sure that OAR will play a few tunes with Dave during the shows. Some long jams to come.

there's nothing extremely close since everything around Polaris now is developed, but there are campgrounds within driving distance of the amphitheater

i just got back from watching "Jersey Girl" definately a good movie that all Polarisites would enjoy. it's not your typical Kevin Smith comedy, sorry no Jay or Silent Bob, but it still gets the laughs

I found that getting tickets in C-bus (earlier years) is much longer than it was last year in Cleveland. I think DMB playing only one show in Cleveland in '03 contributed to that. I was fifth in line and the only one getting Columbus show tickets.
For the '02 shows I remember 40 people in line at the local Kroger's here in town. Hum, decisions to make. :)

bah. okay story time...
so last nite i come into my room around 11 and the lites were off. well i still wanted to use the computer, so i went down to the computer lab so that i wouldnt keep her awake since she has an 8am class. so its around 1230ish and i look at my buddy list and shes still online. so i decide id rather use my own computer sinces shes awake. so i go up there and shes typing away for another 20 minutes or so...she goes to bed and im still online, but im not really talking to anyone, just clicking and that doesnt make a whole lotta noise. shes acting all huffy and tossing and turning and i figure shell fall asleep soon. well. shes just throws her blankets off her bed, grabs them and is like "IM going to sleep in gabys room"...i told her id go downstairs if she wanted me to, and shes like "no its too late"...and then next door i can hear her yelling and talking shit. like im not listening or something. this morning she comes in at 9, turns on the lite, is talking on her computer, phone and has gaby in talking at a normal level...moral of the story is that shes a stupid self centered bitch and i cant wait to be done for the year.

i remember my first trip to our beloved Polaris...

it was back in the great year of 2000 A.D.

in the wonderful month of June...

on the 20th day of that great month

my evening at the concert started on the lawn

little did i know that it certainly would not end in the location...

so a random guy comes up to me and asks me if i bought my 2 lawn tickets through the warehouse

i, of course, tell him yes...

and he then proceeds to tell me to come take a walk with him

as my girlfriend and i walked away, my friends were all upset thinking that we were going to get to meet the band

but the guy taking us on a walk told them, "no, it's nothing that good"

so my hopes of meeting the band were then crushed at that point

at this point, i had no idea what could possibly be in store for me

we then started to walk towards the front of the pavilion of our beloved Polaris...

the security guards let us through at the man escorted us flashed his badge

once we reached the front of the pavilion he posed the question "isn't the view nice up here?"

i of course said "yes" and to that he told me to pick two numbers between 3 and 12 starting with an odd number

still totally clueless, i picked 7 and 8

at that point he reached into his bag and handed me two tickets...

my two new front row tickets!!!

i think it was then at that point that i soiled my pants

so of course as soon as it had sunk it, we went back up to the lawn to tell our friends we came with

and to think they actually thought that we would come back every few songs and let someone else have the front row seats

i love my friends to death, don't get me wrong, but i wasn;t about to give up my front row seats

we went back up to our seats in time to catch dave introduce the opening act

i still remember that it was Me'shelle N'dealecello

i probably spelled her name wrong, but she's the girl who did that song with John Couger back in that day

anyways once her set ended, we knew it was just a matter of time before the boys came out

before they came out, a group behind us began passing out a bunch of "#40" signs

for some reason i had a marker in my pocket, so i wrote the message "carter, can i have your drumsticks" on the back of one of those signs

the guys soon came out and start a phenomonal set

Satellite, BOWA, OSW, Help Myself, Crash, SUAD...

JTR, Watchtower, Ditch, R&R...

[The J2H]

Grey St, Two Step, Raven, DIDO...

then as they came back on for the encore, i held up my homemade sign hoping carter would catch it

carter may have missed it, but dave didn't...

dave say me holding it, pointed to me, then turned to carter, who then smiled and pointed out to me as well...

the encore then proceed with a tease of the much desired #40, Bartender, and closing the show with Ants

upon the ending of the show, carter walked out from behind his set and walked to the front of the stage and handed me one of his sticks...

that concludes the story of my first trip to the great venue we call POLARIS


ironically, this is my 2,000th post in this thread!

needless to say, no DMB concert has been able to top that concert

although meeting dave a little over a year ago at Central Michigan was quite nice and meeting Boyd last year at Polaris was great as well...overall Polaris 6.20.00 still sits number one on the list
