I've released version 1.2 which now supports win 98 and ME. The problem was the log4net package I started using in 1.1. It just plain didn't work on 98/ME. I have removed it and added trace level logging.
Version 1.2 (March 13, 2003)
--------------------------------------
- Removed log4net logging (would not work on 98 or ME)
- Added trace logging (use DebugView to view output)
- Tested on Windows 98

The new downloader works so far for me (i'm in Win98). But I have a question. When the downloader is on for me it greatly affects how the rest of my computer runs. My computer is so greatly disabled that the sounds from instant messenger become distorted and I can not load internet explorer in a reasonable timeframe.
I've heard others mention that they experience a slow down too. What is causing this? Does the downloader take up a large amount of free memory or something?
This is really just a curiousity, not a problem, I plan on downloading overnight while I'm sleeping anyways really. My computer is a Pentium III, 800mHZ, with 10 gigs (it's an HP laptop).

Well it shouldn't take too much RAM... 23 Megs on my machine. But I think the real issue the the loading of the .NET Framework. The code actually runs on a virutal machine and not directly on the OS. The VM is probably optimzed for win2000 and XP which have real mutlitasking built into the OS where as win98 and ME do not. I have a p3 550 with 384MB of RAM running XP Pro and I experience NO slow down whatsoever.

I'm having the same issue, maybe the server is too busy now, I don't know. Also, has anyone been successful in downloading an entire show in one try? I seem to be able to only get 6-8 songs at a time, then i get a login failure error, and it stops. I then have to close the downloader and retry. Any thoughts?

Anyone getting this.....?
A System Error has occured!
An error occured while parsing EntityName. Line 1, position 144.
Finished!!!
I was in the middle of a download yesterday and it just stopped, and I haven't been able to get back on since. This is actually the first problem I've had with the downloader. It's awesome.

Maybe it's just the show I'm trying to DL. I went back to the show that was halfway done yesterday when it kicked off, and it's DLing that.

Yup, I'm getting this on specifically d+t1996-02-17... it looks like the & in the file names is throwing it off. Double-checking with another d+t right now.

Well, it looks like the one i posted is one of the very few that have "&" in the filenames.. i couldn't find another one to try to duplicate the error, all the rest have d+t instead of d&t. Any ideas?

Thanks for releasing this new edition, as it is working better than 1.1. unfortunately, i am getting the same error message as above after a couple songs get downloaded. this happened with the 1.0 version as well. I am using Win98SE.

Anyone having a problem with it stopping on the last file everytime? I can download no problem now but no matter what show I try it will stop before the last file and say error then finished. I know the server is busy but this happens no matter what show I try and I have tried it 10 times on about 5 different shows... it never finishes. just curious... I don't mind having to download the last couple songs of a show by themselves.

It's definitely an issue w/ the filenames - most likely the textfile. I'll fix 2.17.96. let me know if there are any other issues.

I love the new downloader!!! I no longer have to hop out of my chair every 4-5 minutes to load the next track (my wife thought I was a jack-in-the-box). Also, I have not failed one single signature for the last 6 shows- I had become resigned to redownloading about 10- 30% of the tracks each time that came down corrupted and failed the md5 check.
BRAVO!!
