View Full Version : The "I wish they would put this show on the server" Thread

First let me say this:
THANK YOU AM.ORG STAFF!
They have provided us with a great site, a great community, and most of all a great download area.
I've noticed a lot of people who wonder why some shows aren't on the server, and I've created this thread to hopefully let the admins know which shows are really desired.
So, post the show date of a show you would like to see on the server at some point in the future.
A few stipulations:
1. The show must exist. Posting dates of shows that aren't even in circulation isn't going to help get them.
2. Choose shows that aren't already on the server. Alright, so there are 5 sources for show X, but they all can't be posted on the server at once, it just takes up too much space. Let's try to get up some shows that aren't already available in another form (ie source).
3. This list isn't guaranteeing anything. I am starting this thread in hopes of helping the admins get an idea of what shows people want to see on the server. I am in no way connected to the admins, mods, site creators, etc. just a fan and member of the community trying to make a suggestion and help a little.
So, with that, what show would you like to see on the server?

We don't normally go out searching for things to put on the HTTP. We need people to donate (upload). That's how the server builds. Right now all the siteops have donated (uploaded) everything they have and thats what we are at now. Additional shows will have to come from additional sources.

I totally understand that all... I thought this may be a way to "keep our eyes peeled" for a show maybe that there seems to be a lot of interest in.

We used to have 12.9.00 but we found that the SHNs weren't the originals so we pulled it for now.

Matt..
I have a ton of oddball shit that hasn't spread much at all. I keep diging out lil gems I didn't know I had (2-1-97, 2-2-96, and 9-24-95 that I seeded a while back, plus some analogs I had converted 5-14-96 and 2-5-95 that I can remember)) I keep finding stuff as I organize. All is audio but I know a ton of the shows I have are not widely circulated and DAT>SHN copies don't exist. If someone wants to work with me to cross reference what I have against what is around let me know.

There's two very nice sources floating around for that one. An very solid mk4 tape that has some digi noise during Jimi Thing and a mk4/ald mix that sounds great. Strangely I have never seen the entire unmixed ald source. Either way I am sure you could track it down but I doubt you'll find 'original' SHN's cause that tape was converted a long time ago! Maybe someone will find and reconvert the DAT but I wouldn't hold your breath!

I'll offer to upload anything I've got that I didn't already get the from the server. Whats so bad for me is my upload is capped. So while I can get a show in about 3 hours, it takes about 20 to upload. But I'll do it to help out.

First, mucho thanks to am.org to make these shows available to download and spread.
Are demos OK for download? If so, I'd really like to get my hands on the 2-xx-93 demo, since that's the only full Kind Intentions available. Also 7-27-93; I have the killer 20-min #36 as a filler on another disc, I'm guessing the rest of the show kicks ass as well.....

Yeah, been doing some trading again to try and up my list. Had a hard time finding older stuff that I'm missing on the Haven. I looked through the list of shows on the server and was all excited because I saw two or three I didn't have on there. But one was a soundcheck, one was a D&T show, and the other wasn't on there. The soundcheck and D&T show I already had. Got all excited for nothing :lol

I have it in shn...but there is no listing of it on etree so I don't know if what I have is really original shn or not. I burned it as such, but have no way of double checking it.
I looked high and low for that show in shn as well...it was my first show I ever got on cassette in a b+p about 6 years ago.

is this the show you are talking about?
at etree (http://db.etree.org/shninfo_detail.php?shnid=2733)
if so i'm pretty sure i have it and maybe i can pass along my md5's and you can run them against your show. not saying that either one of our's are perfect, but at least its some kind of check.

That may be it, I'm at work and the discs are at home, so I'm sure about the conversion info I have. If you don't mind can you post the md5's here or email them to me and I can double check it. Like you said, they may not be original but atleast we have something to check against.

oh does anyone know how much more room left on the http server? and can i just get an upload id instead of uploading to a siteop? other siteops will vouch for me (momo, sharon, eelall, joe m, etc). or else someone is going to get a bunch of uploads.
i got a D&T 12/12/93 that i didn't see listed.

Hahaha good luck getting a direct upload password. There's about 500 shows on the server now, and I've got probably another 100 in shorten that could go up there, but I'd have to go through another server. I'll do a show here and a show there, but it's a pain to go through someone else. If I had a direct upload, I'd be more likely to up my stuff and get it spread faster. But Matt made a good point that he prefers the system as it is now because it allows for more regulation of the shows, and better checking.

we upload... then Momo or Matt checks and moves it to the proper directories

The only reason I find 11-16-98 to be a little easier to get is that you can go on etree and see the three people that have it. If you go to 5-10-95 Warfield on etree, there are about 30 people listed, and probably 25 of them say in their notes "FM Broadcast" or "At Yoshi's" DESPITE the fact that there's a choice for the Yoshi show as well. These people are just too stupid, so it greatly reduces the chance of finding other people with the Warfield show. I hope the Master DAT for both of these shows appears at some point.

I know Andrew Knowles has an analog copy similar to mine. Gaelle? hasn't repsonded to any emails of mine over tha past year or two. I just sent another one the other day. I don't think the shns actually exist, or the master DAT, at this point they are hoping to find a 1st generation tape and convert it.

I was half joking on that one, yeah I meant the Warfield one. Trying to find that is tough, especially a clean copy! I'd like to hear the second Pig. One of Two shows I am ISO.
If anyone can find a clean copy of 2-5-95 (Palace Theatre, New Haven, CT) I would trade big. I have a copy that I had converted from analogs but the sound suffers at times.... I believe any cd copies out there w/o source info came from my convert. If another is around I would love to hear it:)

Ok, I'm going to double check that 1/26/93 md5's you sent me and upload it and 7/30/99 next.
In the case of that 1/26/93, could they add that since there may not be another source? How would you know? Its such a great show it should be spread.

Im really looking for 6-7-97 from Camden NJ and the full stealth version of 4-21-98 in Atlanta GA (MTV Live at the 10 Spot). My copy of 4-21 is forced DAO and haven't found a seamless DAO version of it yet.

It seems that a good copy of 6-29-00 is hard to come by. This would be a great addition if someone could find original SHNs.

Great thread. Personally i've been looking for 1998-07-24 and 1998-07-25, both Camden, NJ shows, for quite a long time. I have the mp3s but... shns are so much better. These were great shows, and i think they'd be enjoyed by all. If anyone can get them on the server, or an ftp that'd be awesome. thanks,

I looked in the archive and it says the 11/13/96 show has no true digital copies. I have done some searching and found a person on etree who has it, but she wont accept trades, or emails right now. I have also seen a copy of it for sale. If anyone has any kind of copy of this show, no matter how bad, i would really love to have a copy. It was my first show, so it is special for me. Thanks a bunch ;)

8.2.00

Are all being shared(as of today) on the DC servers. Once Dave and Tim stuff slows down, I will start grabbing some of these from people, so we can upload to the server. But be patient, it may be a week or two after Dave and Tim before I can start downloading these.

It's usually like a week to two weeks, depends on how busy Nick (Trippinbilly on haven) is at the time. If it passes a week, send him an e-mail, link is on the haven website, and let him know that you've put registration through, just checking up on it. Inform him that you'd like to grab some shows to put up on Ants and maybe he'll push through your registration.

I uploaded it to a siteop, but apparently the http server is hurting for space, so older shows are on hold.
I've upped 5/12/01 (only show missing from 01 tour), 8/23/00 (if I remember correctly) and 7/30/99, but they are just waiting for the move to the http server as I understand it.

yeah i stopped uploading due to the space issue.
a few notes on some shows mentioned:
the quaility of 5.10.95 Warfield is so poor, that it's not worth uploading... we are trying to locate a clean version, or somehow rescue the one in existance (the levels are too high throughout the recording).
3.24.93, a Digital copy finally showed up...
but, the tracks are faded in and out, with all the Davespeak missing between them.
so, what we have to do is a major edit job, and put the digital song w/the analog davespeak between the tracks... that's why there is a holdup.

as another note, when looking for the shows past 95, make sure that you aren't downloading soundboards or matrixes with soundboards, because those will not be allowed to be put on the server.

I have long time been a proponent of the 4-22-93 Dave and Tim Live at the Prism Coffee house show. It is phenomenal. It is honestly one of my favorite shows, EVER! I love the davespeak, which is not overabundant but provides enough to fulfill the normal craving that goes along with a good acoustic show. The recording sounds like a DSBD, and it may be (I really don't know). But you can almost taste the atmosphere in the place when you hear it. The version of I'll Back You Up deserves top prize for that song. Similarly, Christmas Song is in rare form. I URGE you guys to put this Show up in the EXTREMELY RARE AND DIFFICULT TO FIND SHN FORMAT! It is a real treat. In fact, I would put it in the spotlight section for a few weeks, for no other reason than I'll Back You Up which is arguably Dave's first song (there, a perfect reason for putting it in the spotlight). Anyhow, I would really appreciate it as well, I have yet to get a full SHN copy of the show, I'm still on MP3s for a lot of it.
Peace-
Kevin

I do have an 11.15.96, but I've had it for years, no shn's, only cd wav. No idea of the linage. If that seed doesn't show up, I'll see if we can get my version up and out.

Anyone have clean shns of those?
I know 6.11.96 we (read I) had has some weird cuts on it, so we didn't get that one out until we're sure there is a clean version. 2.23.95 is one of those we'll get up there very soon.

Jake,
That would be great. Does the show start out with Nancies -> Warehouse?
Thanks,

11.15.96 goes billies, two step, LIOG. 11.16.96 is the Nancies>Warehouse one.
11.16.96 is the difficult one to find, and back in the day there was some confusion on which show was which, but I believe you're reversing the shows.

to bad that thread was from march and i wasn't asking for a show
:BANG
did you even look at the thread? it was started in march and the last post was in August. the thread is not asking for shows. it is about shows people would like to see on the server. therefore, it is called The "I wish they would put this show on the server" Thread
and, let's see, your thread is called concerts you would like to see on the shn server
seems to me they are the same thing. no?
do what you want, i don't give a shit. i was just pointing out the fact that this topic was covered and maybe the show you mentioned was already brought up.

This may kinda sound like a waste... but I'd like to see 1 or 2 more sources for the 2002-12-21 show (the one with James Brown), preferably the Scott Brown source since i heard it was the best one there.
The reason I'm mentioning this is because it's a pretty popular/famous show because of the James Brown apperance so it's worthy of 2-3 sources (I'm pretty sure there's a few other shows on here who have multiple versions so I'm assuming this show is deserving of more sources)
Well that was my two cents...

erich--i'm going to try to grab most of these. if the quality is decent enough, i'll upload them and let whoever moves them over choose.
