EDIT: Still having problems, a freebie to the person who can help me.
Maybe someone here can help me.
I'm trying to set up my parents computer with the Ants Downloader.
It is basically a brand new computer with microsoft XP home edition. Upon installing the .net framework, I get an error at the end saying that this computer cannot be installed with .net because it already has the components. After trying this a couple of times, I tried to install the ants downloader, but it says that I don't have .net installed.
Anyone have some suggestions?

thats wierd...i got that message on one of my computers that it had the .NET installed already...but the ants downloader installed perfectly...hmm...have you tried restarting? or maybe removing the .NET architecture using the Add/Remove programs thing in the control panel and then reinstalling the .NET framework

Donald,
Thanks for the response. Thats the first thing I was thinking about (restarting) but I had the bit torrent download going and didn't want to hurt anyones speeds:)
I'll try that, and also I didn't think to remove the .net and try anew. Hope all goes well.
Also, big props to the people who got this program going. I've gotten so many shows lately. Great speeds. Even at 35K, that means that you set it up at night, and when you wake up, bam, new show.

Last time my parents tried that, something went awry and we had to use the system recover. It was a brand new computer as well. EDIT: That was after running the service pack update.
I'll try this option. Thanks.

lol. This same thing happened to me a couple days ago when working on an 98 machine. Needless to say I was pissed.
well just make sute you make a recovery point right before you do it... then if something goes wrong you can recover from it

It was 98 so no recovery points and the machine wouldn't let me do anything with the OS. No safe mode, no setting changes, nothing. I was locked out of it. Had to recover.
yes... i wasnt talking to you... update your oS....
:lol
tho 98 was a good one... but i like the system recover feature of ehhhh ME and up
