i was at my local music store and saw a taylor big baby. i picked it up and played it, quite nice....
it was 350.00 and i know its cheaper than that. the store will meet any price found lower. anyone know a internet store that has it cheaper?? just wondering...
but the reason i made this thread was to get feedback about this guitar. i have been playing guitar for about 4-5yrs. i do not take lessons i have taught myself, and i feel i have gotten quite good.
im looking to replace my acoustic guitar ive had for 5yrs. not looking to spend too much, but i am looking for better quality than a 179.00 epiphone (which isn't that hard to find)
any help is appreciated

thanks for the info :)
I can't say this enough...
Never buy a guitar online... There are just too many variables- you must play the guitar you a purchasing before you do it- every guitar made of real wood will be different and have its own character and quirks- buying it online is like buying a wife online based on a picture and some specs- you just don' t know what you're getting, even if you played with her sister in a store.

i totally agree with you.. the whole internet thing is so i can get a discounted price. the store is charging 350.00, while i know another store 100miles away from me charges 300 w/ a case. if i get proof from an online store that they are chargin less than the store i am buyin from than they will meet the price. i am not looking to buy online, but thanks for the advise.

if you are interested in spending a little more money, taylor is coming out with a new 100 series. they will be laminate sides and back and have solid tops. they should be in stores pretty soon i think

i went back to the music store today and played it again... it is a very light guitar. the clerk told me that its better than the other 'traveling' guitars like the martin backpacker.. i didn't think it was in that 'category'. im pretty sure im gettin it, but at a later date, maybe till the new series comes out.

I would have to try and talk you out of this guitar man. Even though I think that Taylor offers the best quality guitars on the market, I picked one of the babies up the other day at the store(the 310 in particular), and I could not beleive how light it was. I was scared I was going to break the damn thing. I think Taylor went way wrong by offering the Baby line if guitars. Sure they are cheap, and they may sound good in the store, but do you have a guitar tech at your house that will make sure your guitar sounds good everyday? I would highly recommend spending your $350 on a different guitar. I have heard that a new 100 series is also coming to Taylors line of guitars. You might want to check those out, but I would not recommend the 310 just because it is cheap. Go big or go home is my theory!! I will never by a name brand guitar just because it is cheap, I have had my heart broen too many times!!

Few things in this thread. A Taylor Big Baby is not a 310. (see above)
Don't pay more than $600 for a Martin DM (even then you can get a better guitar for that price, IMO)
The Big Baby is not 3/4 the size of a full dreadnaught, it's 15/16ths.
And, petershaw, Dave did use his DM3MD among others on the latest D&T tour. I think you probably know this, but the Martin DM is in no way similar or related to the DM3MD. Just wanted to clarify that in case anyone thought so.
