I'm thinking about starting up to play some gigs for people. I wanted to start learning or fine tune some songs, and I wanted to get everyones opinions on some of these songs. How do you all think about playing; Barely Breathing by Duncan Sheik, Mr Jones by Counting Crows, Jimi Thing, Daniel by Elton John, Iris by the goo goo dolls, and some more dave songs? Also, what are some other good dave songs to play for other people? thanks for any info.

that's actually the best mix of songs I've heard on these boards. Usually people are like "Which 8 dave songs should i do in a row?"
I like all of those songs.

What do you all think about playing the acoustic version of Everlong by the Foo Fighters?

I play acoustic Everlong.....sounds great. Beware of Iris though ....to play it right you really have to retune your guitar.....no fun during gigs. BJ

Acoustic Everlong sounds good, as does Mr Jones, Iris and Jimi Thing and other Dave songs of course. :) I'm guessing you go to OU (as in Oklahoma) based on your name and location. If you start playing in Norman (the Union around lunchtime could be a place to start) or around here post dates/locations and I might come check it out.

lol I do the same thing for my girl. But, can't really go to her for constructive criticism. Yea I don't think I'm quite ready yet for a gig but I plan on playing at my school's talent show and maybe at the battle of the bands

I was listening to Jack Johnson, I think those would be some cool songs to play, acoustic, and sound awesome. I am thinking you could play those at a coffee shop? Or on a street corner with your guitar case open lol. I think it would sound cooler in a coffee shop though.
