OK, I'm ready for the flame, so go ahead. I've been a member of the trading community for years; since Dig's for those of you who remember. I usually just read the boards and get a kick out of what I see here. I think being a memeber of this community is one of the best things around. I usually reserve any comment about most subjects, as I think everyone is entitled to their own opinions. It's been awhile since I've posted, even a reply or an offer for a B+P, my mistake. Although I've not traded in quite awhile, due mostly to my frustration with the lack of compliance to established trading practices, I thought I'd give it a try again. Much to my...disgust ( because I cannot sugar coat it) I am still dumbfounded by the lack of simple trading ediquette. Maybe I am over gerneralizing, but my point is this, for traders old and new..PLEASE, PLEASE adhere to simple guidelines of trading when offering a show, no MP3's, no TAO, and check the discs prior to sending them, whether B+P or trade, don't send unreadable crap, it pollutes the pool and is frustatrating to the recieving party. For anyone that has a question as to what is acceptable, ASK!!! no one, NO ONE will fault a newer trader for asking, certainly not me! I know this was quite a bit of info to read, so I will offer as maby B+P's until I say uncle!!! Thanks for reading and caring about the quality of what you are sending out into the one sweet <trading> world!!

I am new to the trading scene....just started collecting shows. But I do understand everything that you are saying. For example, I wanted a show really bad, and when I received it, it was TAO....very frustrating. But the other party was kind enough to do the B+P to start with, so my frustration was short lived and I was just happy to hear the show.

So here is my question....I see that you have 7-25-01 on your list. If it is DAO could you B+P it for me? I would greatly appreciate it.

believe me, I agree with you. But at the same time, you have to realize that there are just SO many people trading now that it's nearly impossible to educate people on everything-- especially those who are not willing to learn. many newbies want to learn as much as they can, but so many just want want want, more more more-- they dont give a crap about doing it right or preserving the music. Its just inevitable when you have so many people.

My best advice to people starting out (and maybe someone is reading this and will take it to heart)... after learning all the basics (no mp3, TAO, etc) the best BEST thing you can do is BE SELECTIVE about who you trade with! Look at someones list and if it looks like they dont care or dont know what they hell theyre doing, dont trade with them-- you'll probably get a FDAO show or whatever. Trade with people you know or who have good reps. Its the best thing to do.

Wow, I wrote a book. So anyway, yeah, I agree with ya ;)

I completey understand your frustration! I want to vent and rant on a current situation, but I am going to hold back. It could be the person I am dealing with is new and doesn't understand that people who offer up B&P's have lives!

So, that being said, to everyone who is waiting on a B&P from anyone, do not assume that someone stole your disc because it's been 2 or 3 weeks since you sent them out. People who offer B&P's have lives in addition to buring shows for free.

Assuming makes an ass out of u and me :D And can really put someone in a very bad mood quickly!!

Thank you everyone for your helping me start my collection in recent weeks. I hope that I have adhered to all of the "rules" that you mentioned above. I greatly appreciate all of your efforts and hope that I don't do anything to upset anyone who is so kind to share their music. Thanks for all of your thoughts about this!!

Thanks also for the b&p you have a lot of great shows...can I request 4/22/93?

Thanks!!

what you have to say is very important for anyone new to trading to read. I myself am new to this, but spent the time to educate myself before I got started. I have to say that anyone I've b&p'd for has done it correctly, which just makes the whole thing go smoothly. I think it is a very important point you make about listening to the shows when you get them. I won't list any shows for trade, until I've heard the whole thing. I know i've been bumed when i got a show that had interference, when it was not mentioned before. As for your offer, I'd love to get 8/19/00 and if you are interested I see you went to the 12/14/02 Assembly Hall show this past winter, I'd be happy to do a trade if you prefer. It is a great recording!

Thanks for the offer!
