I hope this shouldn't have been posted in the community thread, but I didn't wanan clutter that with problems.

Does anybody know: I'm downloading something and it says "Connecting to Peers" and has a download speed of 0kbps, but it IS uploading stuff.

What does that mean?

Well I know nothing about bt... but I know with ftp it seems that if a server is under A LOT of stress it won't display transfer rate..... but I doubt that is the problem. Maybe you will have more luck w/ the answer over at the groove shack or whatever its called...I know that's not name..that is the name of a club around here. :)

I assume its trying to connect to peers that have the rest of the show.

that is what i am thinking. i think someone has to have the entire fileset before you can download from them

BT defaultly says 0k even if you aren't connected to anything.

it is trying to find somebody with the parts of the file that you need to download... it will say 0 until it finds somebody... yet continue to upload from you to other users so they can get stuck at the same point you are...

basically you are screwed until somebody opens their window to let people finish... which rarely happens unless you can request it wherever you are downloading it from

questions-

what % complete are you at?
what show, and from where (you can PM me so as not to spam;) )?
what version of Bit Torrent are you running (older versions will do as Joe M. stated, you should get V3.2.1)?

it usually only means 1 of 2 things, you have the show complete, which you would know. Or it means that there are a bunch of people connecting to a torrent that no one connected has complete (ie. people completed and then closed their windows  ), and if that is the case it will stall when everyone gets to the same %.

true. sometimes mine take a while to get going from 0. but, you don't have to have the entire file set to upload, you can do both at once.
however, i'm not sure how you could be uploading anything if you haven't even connected to peers to begin dling, unless it's just latent thru traffic of some sort.

That's what I was fearing. I hope you don't get mad when I say it's not a DMB show I'm getting. It's a TV episode. But i figured there would be somebody around here that might know the answer. Thanks guys! That's the answer I was looking for, but not hoping for.

you can also grab torrent spy (search google, i dont have the link), run torrent spy, then save the torrent to your desktop before launching and drag it into the torrent spy and it will tell you the URL for the tracker, the hash so you can see which one, how many complete, and how many incomplete.
