It has come to my attention that the 2-26-99 SHN that is seeded in the community is made from a rip of a TAO CD. The same md5 is listed on etree, and it is the ones that everyone seems to have.
Yes. I am absolutely, positively sure that it is TAO.
I'm not sure how you habdle that, but I thought you might like to know. :(

This is done many times when there isn't any other source.

I think I have a DAO of that show. It may be forced, but I'm not sure. I'll have to check tomorrow when I go home. I know for sure it's decent, because my friend BOUGHT a copy of the show and it was real shitty, so I got a replacement for it. (This was a while ago, before he knew better).

I think it is highly irrisponsible to seed a TAO show. I'm not calling Ants.org out on it, but the person that did the original seeding. Since it is on etree too, it is obviously not your fault. I definitely think it should not stay up, though. the crappy seed has already spread too much.
At any rate, my friend is sending me a seamless copy, so I know there is "another source" ;)

I'll probably SHN it up and distribute it too, since the existing SHN is a giant steaming pile of TAO feces. :p

My discs are marked "cass(1)>DAT" converted on a standalone burner. It's not TAO in the dictionary sense but there is audible ticks between tracks. If this is the only source getting a true DAO will be tough without tracking down a low gen cassette. I don't know but I have traded and DLed this one at least 3 times and never gotten a DAO copy, to be honest I gave up looking in 2000.

This show was taped by a kid named Josh (I cant remember his last name). He was from Des Moines and actually RENTED equipment to tape this show -- he was the only taper there. He rented a Sony DAT recorder and used some type of Shure mics. I think I have the info written down somewhere.
He spent about $150 renting the equipment and had seats Row 6 Center at Civic Center
He moved to Denver about a month after this show so I do know anything as far as what happened to him. I went to his apartment after he taped the show -- I tried to get him to send the DAT to a friend of mine in VA who did DAT>WAV conversion (I dont want to drop his name) but he didnt want to. He had some friend of his convert it and burn him a copy of the show on CD. His friend kept that DAT (and probably erased).
The MASTER CD of this show was burnt in TAO (he friend was not a taper and didnt know any better either). He sent the CD's to me and by the time I received them, he was moved out and gone. I had no chance to tell him the ropes and ask him to change it. All seeds below it are TAO, unless someone has forced DAO on it.
This kid was not a taper by any means.
Yeah, its sucks its TAO -- but its all we've got.

hey, i just did an fDAO on a show, and i can bet you any sum that you wouldnt know where i spliced the tracks together. No clicks, no pops, no nothin. And after retracking it it sure as shit sounds like a regular DAO. If you want me to download the show and do the same thing with this one, especialy if you got the shns from a near master, then i'll be more than happy to.

Popejoy has taped a few shows though. The poster seemed to believe the taper had no idea what he was doing.

Ok, for some reason, the Iowa>Denver thing made someone I know seem pretty sure it was Popejoy.
Anyway, I got a masterfully fixed copy of this in FLAC format if anyone cares.
