Can you put it simply. Is it the show or the converter?

And this is how I know you didn't read the FAQ.

FROM THE FAQ
What are these .md5 files?

An .md5 file is a "fingerprint" of the SHN files that you download. This way, you can be sure that the files you have downloaded are not corrupt - and therefore saving you from ruining some CDs in case they don't match up with the md5 file. It's always a good idea to check your SHN files against the md5 as soon as you're done downloading the show. If a file turns out to be corrupt, you should delete the offending file and redownload it. If you are still having problems, contact Matt or James and we'll notify our FTP Siteops of the problem. The process for checking your SHN files against the .md5 files is simple:

FROM THE FAQ
First, we recommend downloading mkwACT for checking your SHN files and eventually decompressing them into the WAV format that you can burn to a CD. Once you have it installed and running, find the folder where you downloaded all of the SHN files and the md5 files, and simply drag the folder right over the mkwACT window, and drop it onto the white section. If the .md5 files are in the folder, it will automatically scan the SHN files to make sure they are not corrupt, and when the files are done error-checking, the SHN files will then decompress into WAV files. You can then take these WAV files and burn them onto a CD using your favorite CD burning software.

When i run the Md5, the mkwact shows up and very quickly disappears, not telling me if the files are error-free

if he is getting magic number errors its 99% likely he has a shn with an error

ok. you can uninstall and reinstall all ya want, but if you have a .shn file that fails the md5 check (which mkwAct performs) then you need to delete the offending shn file and redownload it and then after the shn has been downloaded again then run the md5's again. if the shn file fails again, download again ...

mwkAct will report errors with any shn files.
