i think the best thing to do with tabs is just look at them as you listen to the song and get a feel of the rhythm...then just move on from there

Pretty much like 97% of all the songs they've played.....good site, really.

For whoever said that tabs confuse them sometimes (like the timing) Try dmbtabs.com

Someone already posted it here, but just in case you didnt know, they have real player/windows media clips for some songs with just the guitar part, and it really helps you learn the song.

Its probably been said but I like dmbtabs.com. They all seem real acurate and if you dont think they are you can always listen to the sound clip of it. The clips help out a lot. They also have the whole song and not just the noticeable parts.

ok, but not everyone has perfect pitch and can figure out exactly what chords are being played. You forget about all the funky 7ths and stuff, and what about Dave's fucky chords, and how about aternate tunings, huh?

I was surfing and did the typical "Dave Matthews Band Guitar Tab" on google and a new one that I hadn't seen before popped up: http://www.geocities.com/ericwormann/

Seems pretty good and accurate from what I have played.. and the YNK tab is a new take on doing it in standard tuning

Here is another one. http://nancies.org/music/tabs/

Also if you didn't know (sorry if this was already posted) the website you are on has tabs for most songs. If you get out of the forum to the main page of AM.org and click on music, then click on lyrics and tabs at the bottom of the drop down box. It will bring you to their archive of lyrics and tabs.

hehehe. if you're talkin' dave stuff its not that easy. It takes practice and patience and more practice and patience to do dave tunes. what songs do you have in mind?? there's probably easier dave songs like STJL, Ants, and such that this could be done for , but songs like the Stone, Tripping Billies, Rhyme and Reason - its time and practice...

aren't we funny? i can play every dave song and all of dave and tim's parts for every one of their songs, but for the majority of his songs the chords could be written out above the lyrics, making it easier on whoever is playing. I was just wondering if anyone knew of a site with just chords, naturally every dave song would not be there, but i'd say 70-80% of them could be chorded out.

I've noticed this, as well. My guess is that, by separating the lyrics from the tabs, it prevents the legal types in the music industry from getting too excited. They take copyright violation pretty seriously. This would be especially true for fan sites like Antsmarching and Nancies, where you don't want to piss off the band. Feel free to correct me anybody.

Check out the OLGA. I've found Harmony Central to be a user friendly way to access it:
http://www.harmony-central.com/Guitar/OLGA/all/dave_matthews_band.html

It's been said before, but I still think www.dmbtabs.com is the best of the best. Jared has put his whole heart into making it easy for the rest of us to learn how to "play like Dave".

I dunno if you guys are gunna hate me for this...but I find it more worth your time to just bite the bullet and buy the songbook. One, you get voice music too, and two, the notes are right on. I just think tabs are unreliable sometimes. If you really wanna learn a song for gigging, then get the books.

Absolutely http://www.dmbtabs.com is the #1 tab site. Jared Kanter is a genius. I've never seen a more thorough or more accurate site for DMB songs. He has all the tunings, even lessons on the main "Dave" chords that once you learn show up in so many tabs and you start recognizing them. When I was able to play and sing The Stone well from start to finish and play it in front of other people I knew I was on to something good.
I don't need the DVD coming out but I will buy it anyway to support the guy who's made me a much, much better guitarist.
Thanks Jared - you are the hombre
If anyone hasn't seen DMBTabs GO THERE NOW! You will play just like Dave.

u really REALLY hafta master a dave song before u can even think about singing to itYup - then memorize the words before you play. get one verse down error free then move onto the second. That's what worked best for me with The Stone. I was always going into the "and now I wish this" instead of "and now forever pay" so I just played and played until the end of the third stanza until I was getting it right each time then moved onto the next one. Worked like a charm for So Damn Lucky as well. It's funny how you think you know the lyrics to a particular song until you start trying to play and sing it at the same time.

i would have to say that www.dmbtabs.com is the best, seeing as they are checked out by dmb people to make sure that they are accurate, they are also coming out with a dvd full of all the video's on how to play, and it is being looked at by dmb lawyers and stuff for accuracy, and as i said, the video's you can watch on the page are so helpful for getting the fingering right and hearing the flow of the song you want, too bad they don't have them for all the songs, but there are quite a few of them

dmbtabs.com is probably the best I've found so far. It's really good for learning songs like "Pig" where your not exactly top notch on the lyrics, you can pull them up and look at the guitar parts at the same time, if your into singing along with your playing that is. They also have alternate tunings and ways of playing for some songs too. You might have to look for a few songs elsewhere, especially if their some of the new ones lyric wise. I think it's worth the wait though for tabs and lyrics for "Stand Up".

Almost every website has a different version of the chords, you really just have to listen to the songs to get the exact chords down. They are slight variations but that little difference makes a whole different sound you know.

"Linus and Lucy" is a great piece of just piano. You want piano "tabs" for it? 'Friad not- you'll need to know how to read music for that. You can purchase sheet music for it almost anywhere that sells it- it's a very popular piece.

I don't think anyone has mentioned PowerTab. It may not have the best selection, but it provides everything you need - apart from skill - to learn the song: tablature, the tab written on a grand staff, MIDI (meaning you can listen to the song rather than just seeing it on a page), and more. If you don't mind downloading a program:
http://www.power-tab.net/
to download and
http://www.powertabs.net/

Olga's good to get a basic idea of some songs, but they are, in general, pretty weak on accuracy.
:mad :mad
I went to the Olga.net site.
Looks like they got a cease and decist order.
I feel badly for them and hope all works out for all sides.:( :(

Hey all just got my guitar yesterday and I'm having some trouble with reading one thing in particular. I've checked some of how to read tab sites and it seems pretty straight forward but what exactly are you suppose to play when you see numbers off of the 6th string? for example I'm seeing alot of this:
-----------
-----------
4 3

if the fret # isn't on the last string what do I play? (NOOOB I know.)

If you are a musician and you try to play songs such as Kit Kat Jam or Grey Street then I want you to visit this website and listen to my track.

If you listen to Crash Into Me-Don't Bother, CHEERS
