I thought either Yorkshire or Silky...he is really sweet:)
Our newest is a pug/schnauzer mix...very adorable...we have mostly BIG dogs, and our new one along with our pom are the only little guys.

best thing about him being so small... we trained him to go in a litter box, like a kitty.;)

That's so cool! Gepetto did that once or twice on his own...now he uses the carpet and I am ready to kill him. I should buy stock in pet carpet cleaner.

Here are some photos of Kodiac, the big bar (bar meaning bear...with that southern twang). He's not doing very well right now, but we can show our love and support. The first two are from my first visit home. He has such a fatherly canter to him...letting the little one's jump up and pester him, but knowing full well that they love him...and he loves them :) But at the same time, he is protective of his family and own personal space (which means Casper gets the evil eye sometimes). The third is a photo of him grinning and bearing it for the sake of style (and a laugh)...you're stylin' Kode!

*Let it be known that the title of this thread is 'Post Your Pets', but that was an error on my behalf...these animals (the ones in this thread) have touched our lives in such a way that many humans will never be able to. They have brought us joy and laughter as well as frustration and heartache. But they love unconditionally and that is a far cry than what most humans can or will ever be able to do. They don't ask for rewards, or money, or a shiney new watch. Most of the time they just want to be scratched behind the ears, have their belly's rubbed, and eat a decent meal. They feel our joy and our pain, but remain with us throughout...because they love us. And we love them. These are not pets. These are our families, our lives that we look upon and hold on to. Hold on to your families and give them everything you can because they love you unconditionally...and that is very hard to come by, but a damn lucky gift when it does.

I love you. I love you so much.

And I’m realizing that I deleted the photo of my first dog. This is Misty (again). She passed away August 13th, 1997. She had been with my family for 15 ˝ years traveling across Europe and the US. I knew her longer than I knew my brother at the time. I remember the day she passed vividly. I remember finding this photo, getting a frame for it, and putting it up with all our family photos. My dad took her chain and put it on the rear view mirror in the car that day. Going on seven years, that photo and that chain are still next to our family and on my dad’s rear view mirror…because she is still a part of our lives. She helped shape who I am and how I care. I look forward to my family in the future.

Thank you, always, again and again, for the love and support. Beautiful things you had to say...
Kodi is at a standstill for now. X-rays showed a few things but they have to do an ultrasound to see exactly where the problem is. A tumor is suspected, and this is not uncommon with senior dogs, sadly.
I will know more by the end of the day tomorrow, but some good news, he finally ate a bit. Some turkey breast and raw beef, as prescribed by the vet, to get some iron in him. Hopefully we can build his red blood cells up again and he can fight this.

I so missed this post somehow...
That's exactly how Casper's leg looked when he came to us. I am so glad Sandy had adapted to it so well! We had his fixed, with the help of a generous woman who gives so much to Boxer Rescues, and he is just the most rambunctious dog we have.
This is before and after, from bottom to top.

beautiful dog, ive never that color with those eyes before.

yeah i considered fixing it when i first adopted, but adoption lady assured me it would not cause any problems in future as long as were careful. so far so good, and she thinks shes normal anyways.

His eyes are brown, I think the flash got a bit too excited:)
The vet had said if more time had passed the surgery would have been alot more complicated. It seems we rescued him just in time though.
Animals are amazing, I cannot imagine many human beings adapting so well to a broken leg. You did well by Sandy! Many happy years ahead to you both.

These are my two dogs, Duke & Snoopy. They are both pit mixes. Duke is a pit/lab mix, and Snoopy is a pit/bassett hound mix. ....and well, Duke is the saint...we've had him for a few years, and he is the coolest, most mellow & friendly dog you could ever come across......Snoopy however, he's a different story. He's a few years younger than Duke (9 months) ...and he's a wild child. Biting shoes, biting hands, biting Duke. He's got a lot to learn! But here they are...

Just wanted to let everyone know that our sweet soul of a dog is trying to hold on, but we are losing her. She has both kidney and liver failure, and they are unable to help at this point. She is at home, resting, and our hearts are simply breaking.
There is nothing worse for me than watching my child (truly, these animals are my children), fade away and not being able to do a damn thing about it.
She has been by my side for 11 years. I don't know how I am going to let her go.

selkiegirl - I'm sorry to hear about Savannah. I send my best wishes and prayers.

This was my little boy. The ex took him when we split. I bought him so I wouldn't have to buy a ring, I should have given her a ring on the way out and kept the dog. :BANG I really miss that little munchkin!

His official AKC name is "Bubba the Boston SuperHero"

Jenna, I have a very strong feeling that you gave Savannah the happiest 11 years a dog could ever have. Any animal would be lucky to have you as its caretaker and I'm sure somewhere in her doggy mind, Savannah knows this. Stay strong, we're here for you. :)

Hey pet people...I know this is a pet picture thread, but I figured you guys might be able to help me out. My dog has some sort of sore or wound on her front paw and she will not stop licking it, and if I tie cloth or anything like that around it to just get her to stop licking it so it can heal, she tears it off and goes back at it. Anyone know of anything good to wrap around her paw that's not so easy to get off?

My dog has some sort of sore or wound on her front paw and she will not stop licking it, and if I tie cloth or anything like that around it to just get her to stop licking it so it can heal, she tears it off and goes back at it. Anyone know of anything good to wrap around her paw that's not so easy to get off?
You could put one of those collars around her neck, that would keep her from licking it.

I felt bad when my cat had to wear it, but seeing how messed up they get from it is just too funny. :lol Cats are so ungraceful with those things on.

:lol:lol:lol:lolYep. My dog does the same thing. I tried to figure out some way to keep him from licking it--nothing worked, so I finally brought it to my vets attention. My vet diagnosed him with obsessive-compulsive disorder. Basically, they are so bored they just start chewing on themselves and won't stop. We tried him on anti-depressants (doggy prozac) and he still chews. They are called 'hotspots'. Usually he chews his paw, like yours does. He will start leaving one alone, it will heal up, then he will start chewing somewhere else.

I have found that bandages and the like only induce more chewing 'cuz the dog wants it off. Your best bet is to go to your vet--he can give you a spray that tastes really bad to your dog. We tried this with my dog, but nothing fazes that crazy bastard. Doc said that the spray works like 90% of the time, though. If that doesn't work, then all you can do is keep the area clean and watch for a 'plateau effect'--which indicates infection. (their mouths are very dirty and these areas can become infected.) When that happens, get him on some antibiotics.

Jenna--So sorry to hear about Savannah...I know how hard it is to lose a pet.:angel

jenna, i'm so sorry about Savannah :( we lost our little terrier, Hobo, after 9 years. i nursed him through congestive heart failure and it was so hard to watch him suffer like that. he got to spend his last bit of time at home too and he said his doggie goodbyes to us before he left. that meant a lot to us.
Savannah was a lucky dog to have you for a Dog Mom for all these years... remember the good times, k?

Her: *blink blink*

they're not mean? :o They are very protective, which is why I have them. They tend to warm up to women quite easily, but they don't like strange men and they aren't too fond of kids. My female is the smartest guard dog, but my male loves me the most. Whatever room I am in the house, he is sitting at the door, guarding the room. And he won't let anyone near the door, unless I tell him to. They are cool dogs, they are trained on snaps only--no verbal commands at all.

I love them more than life itself....)

I just have to say, I love that there are so many loving and proud animal parents on ants. They give us so much, and this thread is definitely a spot of sunshine on a rainy day for me.
Savannah is holding on, she is drinking water and actually was able to get down about a cup of turkey and baby rice cereal this morning. We have been continuing the sub Q fluids, trying to make sure she stays hydrated. Made her a CD yesterday, can't exactly ask her if those are her favorite songs, but they remind me so much of her spirit, I can only hope she enjoys listening to them. When "Brown Eyed Girl" came on, she started eating a bit, so who knows:)
I know we are still going to lose her, but in her will to live, we are just embracing every last moment she is able to share with us. I spent alot of time just laying next to her and getting lost in her eyes yesterday. It's amazing how you can speak volumes without making a sound.
Thank you all for your words, your thoughts. It means so much to me.

Just wanted to update you all~
I swear, this old girl is telling the vets and their tests to F-off. The way she is feeling, you wouldn't have a clue that she was so deathly sick last week. She is back to her frisky self, barking, running about, eating without a problem, (too much, in fact), back to being her sociable self and if you didn't see her last week and see those test results, well, suffice it to say Savannah is doing remarkably well. We have had such a great weekend with her, and call me a dreamer, but I believe she is going to somehow be okay. Maybe it was all the good wishes, positive vibes, her strong spirit and will to live. Whatever the case may be, we are so thrilled with this turn around and in awe at the way she is showing us her shine again.
Thank you so much for caring:) Fingers are crossed, toes are crossed and hope is high.

I love trail riding and coming across fallen trees. Me and my mane man, Cappy, just seem to have this unspoken communication where I almost just have to think something and he does it. I LOVE that.

I think that's why I've always enjoyed my horses so much...you can't explain the connection and understanding you and your horse have with each other--it's just a very unique bond. I honestly think I know what my horse is going to do before he does it and vice versa.

I do have a real interest in becoming a better English rider. I've grown a little bored with trail rides and Western saddles...:rolleyes:About the only fun I have is when I just get him running wide open somewhere, but I don't like running him like that too often.

My horse, Traveler is an ex-racehorse we got from Pompano Beach. He's a 17- hand thoroughbred and damn, that horse can haul ass. He loves it just as much as I do....

Anyway, I'd love the chance for us to ride together. One day.....

Oh ja! She's a little spit faaar. Little Miss May...the month I moved out here. I held on to May all of last semester...I have embraced every day since. Here is an excerpt from my journal, May 1st, 2004:

...I will soon be going home to the most beautiful woman I have ever seen, that I have ever known. The woman that filled every single gap of emotion I ever had. The woman I want Blake to see me with to understand what two people should have in a relationship, in a marriage. The woman that captivated me with her very words and presence. The woman I hold so dear to me. She has taken any sense of doubt in my mind that I can truly be loved in this world. I don't have to just be okay. For that, I thank her. For sharing herself with me, I thank her. For letting me love her the best way I know how, I thank her. I had a dream last night that was so real. I got the call about a job and the final piece was resolved in me coming home. I called Jennifer and she was elated. Elated to know that we were both going to be more than okay. For the rest of my life, I will strive to make her happy. Loving all of her. Holding her hand at all times with my roots sewn deep within the essence of our love.

Today is the first day of May and the path with heart that has eluded me time and time again is now in sight.

May...

Yes he will, our older cat KC is taking a little longer to get used to him but Jazz is in love with him,I thought he peed on himself last night because he was all wet, but I figured out it was just from the damn dog licking him to death. :)
The nice thing is Ivan is not afraid of him at all,or anything else for that matter. He just runs around the house in constant purring mode.
