Our little amazing lives...
Some of the dogs, the ever inquisitive and perceptive Moochie, our one eyed pup, May, her big hundred pound brother, Casper, and the tiniest soul, Gepetto.
May has to be the cutest puppy I've ever seen. I LOOOOVE beagles.

She is such a character. You would never know she only has 1 eye, except when you throw her ball on her "blind side" and she gets all confused. :)
She is indeed special.

:lol poor thing.
She looks like such a sweetie. She reminds me alot of my beagle, Mac except his snout is a lot narrower. There are pics of him somewhere in this thread.

You'll have to find the pic and post the link! She is some kind of mix, we were thinking blue tick/beagle/aussie. Her coat is starting to get wavy and a bit thick on the top. Who knows :)
The big Boxer, Casper, (pic above), was a rescue last year. I still cannot believe how much he has changed. He literally doubled in weight from when he first came. This is him when he first arrived, skinny, broken legged, and pathetic looking.
He still tries to milk his past for all it's worth. Talks in quite the Chewbacca type slang.

Here are some of "mine".
My fish are really mine, I actually have another tank that is not in this pic (4 total now).
The little guy was mine until my ex left and took him with her, I really miss him. Official AKC name: "Bubba the Boston Superhero"
The big lab is my parents dog, but we also grew up together so he is my dog too. Name: Caibo, short for Marracaibo which is a Dive reef in Cozumel.

We had Cichlids for a while - they can be quite disturbing - eating their young. But we also had a few goldfish when we introduced the cichlids (yea, we were cruel), but there was one goldfish who survived (another pet named Lucky). It was quite entertaining for a while, because the cichlids just left him alone, once they figured out it was too much work to eat him. :ugh:

we had a crawdad named Lucky for the exact same reason.. he didn't end up in the belly of his tank mates :p
pat also has a turtle (a red eared slider) that gobbles goldfish. there's always one or two that survive & get named

Yeah, he needs to be close to someone in order to fall asleep. Preferably something nice and soft/warm. The other one likes to watch what you are doing, but Howie loves to be the center of attention.

He learned really fast about where he could relieve himself. That was easy. The hard part was the chewing. He chewed everything. My hats, wallets, cd's, coffee table, entertainment center, woodwork. When I first got him I lived in an apartment. I used to come home from work and the couch cushions would be laying on the floor. I finally had to get him a crate for when I was away because his vet said he would hurt himself or maybe kill himself if I didn't. Possibly chew electrical cords or something.

I leave my cat outside all the time. She loves it. She's outside 8 to 12 hours a day. She stands at the door all the time meowing at me to let her out. Most the time she just lays out in the front yard rolling around or on the driveway.

Well, Miss Beth, if you had a 36 acre farm you could!
It's funny how our dogs keep getting smaller. We have become very aware of how much dog food a 100 lb. dog can consume. It's much more affordable to feed a 10 lb. dog. Ya, that was a big "duh" statement.

I actually wrote a journal entry once about Josephine. She is a young cat, but she gets up on the top of the cabinets, table, etc., and tried to navigate herself around things. We have horse models on the top of the kitchen cabinets (many from when I was a kid:)), and she never fails to knock each and every one of them over. Same with mail on the table.
We think she has a deal with the dogs, "psst, Josie, knock that stuff down so we can chew it, as our 152 dog toys just aren't quite fun enough"...
I'm not actively looking for a home, but if someone fell in love with her, well, I would consider it. She was a rescue I was fostering, (they pulled about 75 cats out of a breeding mill, horrible conditions), and Josie was one of them.

jenna... when you find people who would like to have one of your animals... do you sell them, or just let them have it? i'm just curious...Almost all of our animals are permanent residents. When I was active in fostering, there was an adoption fee (covered vaccinations, worming, vet checks and spaying/neutering), and application that had to be filled out, along with home visits, vet references, etc.
I worked with other animal rescue organizations, and it was really important to go by the book. Too many people adopt on a whim, or truly don't understand the breed characteristics, and many a time animals end up in a shelter.
We always advised people to never advertise their animals "free to good home". If people don't want to pay anything for a pet up front, or don't have the funds to, they certainly won't have the funds to properly take care of an animal once they get it.
Babbling, sorry. :)

No need to apologize. You gave me the perfect response, it answered any question I might have had. :)
And just to specify a little... I wasn't asking to take away a pet of yours, or go looking for free animals. I was just curious as to your arrangement and how it all worked. As much as I would love to have a dog again, my parents simply won't allow it until I'm moved completely off of their property. My mother tells me it's because she gets too attached and can't stand it when they get sick and pass on.
But... your animals are beautiful. :)

short of shaving them, i'm stumped!

They will lick it right off. The oil will help move those hairballs along at great speed.

ok, y'all don't know my cats!
edgar damn near knocked me over getting to the butter on my finger so i didn't even have to swipe it on his nose
raven sniffed at it and just sat there! with a blob on her nose! :lol then she started licking daintily but her tongue wasn't touching it so i buttered her tongue :p
then edgar licked what was left on her nose

Well, was that easier than giving them the hairball medicine?
Oh, and I believe the hairball formula just has added oils in the food. That's about the only difference.

Thanks for the comments for Bella, I always been a dog person, but my apartments would only allow cats, so me and my ex got her. We split up but I kept her, there is alot of sentimental value about her :) She always wants to eat though...:babe Here are a few diffrent pics of her,one when she was just a ball of fluff, until now (about 10months)
Cheers-
Mike M
ohmygoodness...what an :angel. especially that first pic. if I was your ex, there is no way I would have allowed you to have custody of that cat. I would have made it clear that you could leave if you wanted, but the cat would be staying. she is just too cute. do those cats have any genetic problems?

Well no real problems with hairballs, but I need to brush her at the min of every other day, it can get messy. I usually send her to her grooming apt once a month. She has so much personality to her, def worth the money you pay for them.

except with the hairball paste it has the consistency of a melted down tootsie roll and some of it invariably ends up in Raven's fur which i then have to clean
i was wondering about that food... i've noticed they're hacking up MORE and their poo is godawful runny. i think we may switch back next time.

Well she moved back to Tx, and I stayed out here in San Diego. Your right it'
s like "Cat Custody" I still send her some pics of her from time to time, and let her know how she is doing. But with her moving she wasn't sure if she could keep her etc...It def would be tuff spliting with her, even though it's "just a cat" like most people would say. There is something about getting them when they are so small and seeming them grow, you grow attached in some way if you like it or not :) .

That could be the problem. Another good tip is to try to feed some baby food, the little jars of chicken or whatever flavor they might like will help as well for some reason. Much easier on their systems, too.

the closest thing i could find was an obscure breed called a Tiffany-Chantilly

they were really mink brown when they found us... the only thing that made me say "nah, it can't be" is the fact that this particular breed says "shedding minimal"

I believe me, I know how you guys feel. I could handle losing my man but I couldn't handle losing my pets.I'm a big sap, I couldn't handle losing any of them. But I must say, I do have this magnet on my fridge that says "He asked me to choose between him and my horse...I miss him sometimes".
That definitely applied to many a past relationship. If they didn't pass the dog/cat/horse test, they were out the door.
Luckily, he loves them as much as I do:)

how much should i give them? would it be a good idea to mix it with their dry food? should i call my vet instead of bothering you?

No, I don't mind. I love talking about animal stuff. I have had to learn a hell of alot with having so many of them. Our vet is 35 miles away, and on their days off, it's impossible to find anyone for an emergency visit, so you learn, FAST. Many times, I have diagnosed my animals ailments more accurately then they have.
Try it plain, see if they like it. A small jar split between the 2 of them would be very healthy and beneficial.
We have one cat that was supposed to "not make it through the weekend" as she had advanced kidney failure, according to the vet. I switched her diet to baby food only for about 2 months, and 5 years later, she is still kickin' it.

um, i have another "critter question" if you don't mind...
why on earth would my supposedly neutered boy cat keep trying to mate his supposedly spayed sister?
they wait til i step outside then i hear the yowling
i just now came back inside and shooed edgar away... he rolled over and i could see a very *ahem* "visible sign of arousal" :o
i've noticed this happens right around the full moon
he has no testicles that i can see or palpate so what the hell???

Hmmmm, that could be a tape wormy deal. One of our cats vomited tonight and a big nasty one was in there.
It could also be an anal gland impaction. Jennifer would have to explain that one a little better. I just go buy the stuff we need.

thanks, just make sure you go through a breeder. They are usually cheaper than a store etc.. The guy whom I bought her from helped me alot. He actually wanted to keep her for his own, but thankfully he gave in and sold her :thumbsup
