This is my cat Chloe. I took these pictures with a camera phone so they aren't very good. Unfortunately, I lost her last night. I found her laying by the curb in the street across from my house this morning before I went to work. She was 4 1/2 to 5 years old. She loved to be outside and I always gave into her when she wanted out, which I obviously regret now. You can even see in one of the pictures she's sitting by the door waiting for me to let her out. I never cared for cats growing up since my family only had dogs. My ex brought Chloe home one day when she was a kitten and I guess she really grew on me. I feel just as bad now as did a few summers ago when my dog died. :(

This is my sister's dog Dave (yes she named it after that other Dave). He's a 1 year old silky terrier and he sure is a handful. He barks like crazy at the most random things and he tears up every single toy you try to give him. There is just no hope with this dog! But the only thing that gets you is when he looks up at you like this picture. And then you know he's a good dog. I'm moving out in a couple days and I sure am going to miss this dog!

We named them Zibbles and Felonie (2nd & 3rd pics, respectively), but on Wednesday Zibbles got killed by a dog when she wandered upstairs :( :( It's hard being 4+ hours away at school when stuff like this happens (at her parents' house). :( But they are adorable, and I know that Zibbles is as happy as ever exploring the afterlife, but I miss her :(

My black lab puppy...her dad chews everything he can get his paws on. :lol I had a roomate in college who had a black lab that lived in our backyard. we had a an old couch out there that we used during parties and whatnot, and that dog started chewing on it as a puppy. every day we'd go out there and see that he'd chewed it up a little more. over the course of about 6 mos., I shit you not, that dog ate that entire fucking couch. there was nothing left of it. he always had buttons and whatnot in his turds.
moral of this story: labs will chew and eventually eat everything.
EDIT: he also dug up the entire backyard. he was sweet, but what a pain in the ass.

Well, I guess I'm a lucky one ... The only thing Aspen did was chewed one of my sandals (Birks no less) when she was little, but that was the only thing. So far, Shasta, 10 months, hasn't chewed anything up.
I always make sure there are lots of toys and bones for them to chew on, and lots of supervision until the teething days are over. If a dog has time to eat a couch and dig up the back yard he might need a wee bit more attention. :lol
I have heard horror stories of labrador retriever chewing incidents though.

A couch. Very interesting. Mine likes to chew on the deck when we put her out there. I don't think she'll eat it all, but there are knicks taken out of it.

I'm wondering if anyone can offer any advice--for the first time ever, I saw a tick on my dog yesterday. it was on her back leg and it was kind of small-- I don't think it was a deer tick, because it was black, but anywho, I tried to pull it off while holding a paper towel on it and I wasn't very successful. only part of it came off on the paper towel and now the rest of it is still embedded in her. I tried pulling the head out today with some old tweezers (that are now in the trash) but it's embedded so deeply that it won't budge. does anyone know if it's bad for this thing to still be in her? and if so, how do I get it out? I appreciate any suggestions. :)

Beagles are tenacious little fuckers, thats for sure. I've never seen such a hard-headed breed, when they want something there's nothing they won't do to get it. I would have loved to take May in, I don't think she could scale our 6' privacy fence.

I just want to see her in a forever, loving, SAFE place, and as much as we wish we could have refenced this place with a 6' privacy fence, well, 2 acres equals a heck of alot of money.
Funny thing is, we have 11 other dogs, and have done alot of rescue, and not one dog ever got out like she did. She found it fun to hang with the neighbors dogs, and the neighbors dogs are scroungy rebel kids who have not had one vaccination in their entire lives, nor do they have the luxury of a flea and tick preventative.
So, ya, May is in a better place for now.

I really would if my wife and I didn't get a second dog recently. One beagle and a 65lb. foxhound is enough for one townhouse (we rescued both of them :) ). It sounds like you did make the right decision, and she is such a beautiful dog I'm sure she won't have any trouble finding a nice permanent home.

She looks like she could still be a kitten (well I guess a big kitten). They look so much alike. Wow, that is a HUGE difference. Glad he found a forever home with you.
Reminded me of this:
Inner Strength
If you can start the day without caffeine or pep pills,
If you can be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains,
If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles,
If you can eat the same food everyday and be grateful for it,
If you can understand when loved ones are too busy to give you time,
If you can overlook when people take things out on you when, through no
fault of yours, something goes wrong,
If you can take criticism and blame without resentment,
If you can face the world without lies and deceit,
If you can conquer tension without medical help,
If you can relax without liquor,
If you can sleep without the aid of drugs,
If you can do all these things,
Then you' re probably the family dog.

I havent been on the boards for a while due to personal reasons, but i used to post pics of my doggie on here. Unfortunately though we found out last week he has cancer in 3 major areas and he only has a few days to weeks left with us. The miracle in it all is that he is not in any pain (according to the vet) so he dosen't know he's sick. I'm very upset about it, but what can we do? We have been giving him the best days of his life..
I'm attaching a picture of him. Please send lots of love to Rescue.

Yeah, I used to have a blue confer named Morty who loved to give kisses too. In fact, if you weren't careful, he'd try and crawl right into your mouth. Birds are wierd little guys.
we've had two parakeets over the years...
Shitbird (yes, we named him that but encouraged our son to call him Sbird :lol ) was the bomb! he could mimic the dog whining and the telephone ringing flawlessly!
furthermore when we'd say "hush!" to the dog, or go answer the phone that wasn't ringing i SWEAR that bird would laugh! :p
Teddy Roosevelt couldn't do anything except poop on the wall and attack the dog :rolleyes he was a mean wittle birdie!

Please send lots of love to Rescue.Much, much love is sent to you and Rescue. I have been exactly where you are right now, and it's the hardest feeling in the world knowing what lies ahead.
Just love him the way you always have, and spend each and every moment you can by his side. I wish I could say something profound and helpful, but there doesn't seem to be enough words in the human language to express how painful it is to lose family, and these kids, they truly are family.

Last night I opened my dresser drawer to get some pj pants, and my cat, Gracie, just hopped right in. Before I knew it, she was inside the frame of the dresser. I started pulling open drawers to see where she was and I soon found her resting contentedly in my underwear drawer. I guess she likes Victoria's Secret too.

I'm so sorry. My heart is breaking for you, as well as for us.
It's been a week of goodbyes it seems. We lost out little Tuggy this week, and the hole is so huge, we aren't sure how to patch it up.
I understand what you are going through, and if there is ever anything we can do, please don't hesitate to ask.
Many hugs, from us and from our littlest Angel.
Maybe they are playing together right now? Tuggy was always close to our old lab, Savannah. Maybe he found Rescue and snuggled right in for a warm nap.

We are holding up, doing our best to think about the weeks and months ahead. We truly are blessed with this life, and I have a feeling Tuggy is watching over his little sibling right now. It's nice to know there is a guardian angel standing close by.
