She's been one of the best dogs we've ever had. So playful and very smart.

that's a great shot los. i brought him over to a friends last night to meet some bigger dogs. after about 20 mins of sticking his tail between his legs, he started defending himself...it was cute. my cats (2) are still a little reserved around him, but Baby (the one pictured in the photo album) is slowing starting to accept him. she sniffs the hell out of him while he's sleeping and trys to while he's awake, but if jax moves too fast she bats his hat and runs...

Holy cow, that's awesome. Our calico came to us at 3 weeks old, she still has to suck on a towel that we gave her when she was younger (she's almost 2). You just put this raggedy old towel in your armpit and she crawls up and sucks on it, as if it were her mother. It's probably the cutest thing I've ever seen a cat do- and feels cool too.

I have done that a few times, my vet calls, kittens need a surrogate mom, and he knows I am a sucker. That season is coming up again, and we already have 6 cats, we do NOT need anymore, but when you go through that all with them, you get so attached.

Wow, lyme disease is harsh, but at least you are treating him right away. I have a white boxer, Shiner, who was diagnosed with it 6 years ago. She still has some problems here and there with her immune system and thyroid, but she came through with flying colors.
Ticks do suck...we have way too many here. I hope your Jazz does well, he is a beautiful boy:) Many hugs to him:)

Dave G
03-24-2004, 11:05 PM
Thanks, and I'm glad Shiner pulled through, it kills me to see any animal hurt and in pain. At least it is something that can be treated. I was thinking the worst when he couldn't walk down the stairs this morning and I had to carry him.
The Vet said that she has a couple of dogs die from it every year, which freaked me out a little. She went on to say that it’s usually from kidney damage caused by Lyme. But it’s from dogs that have not been checked out right away and put on antibotics soon and never from a dog that has been vaccinated, against it which he was.

Shiner was too...go figure...it's a good thing you caught it early. She was the same way, couldn't even lift her poor head, it killed me. Very glad that your vet had the sense to check for that. I had to take her to 3 vets and demand a test before they finally caved in. They were shocked, but I wasn't. Dang vets.

Yeah, he's such a happy boy that it just kills me to see him so miserable. To tell you the truth, I brought him in yesterday because he was limping and looked like he was in pain. I thought it was where I stepped on his paw the other day. The vet checked him out and $30.00 later said for me to give him asprin. He did seem somewhat better. But this morning when I saw him so miserable and stiff it just hit me that's what is was. So I brought him in again today for a blood test and the vet was pretty good about it.
Everyone in my family has had Lyme now except my youngest daughter. I'm trying to talk my wife into getting some chickens or guinea hens to keep the ticks down. Although we have coyotes and a mink that might cause some problems

Oh ya, you can buy it at Walmart or the grocery store too for that matter. Just don't get the "spray on" stuff, it doesn't work. They prefer the real deal. I grow it here throughout the summer and our cats are always in it.

i've always known that you can train a cat to do its deed in the toilet, but who the hell would have thought (that's if you know me) that i could actually succeed in doing so mine.

a little story if anyone is interested. i used to wake up in the morning to yellow water in the toilet. Didnt think much of it, thought it was rust in the water (i live in Brooklyn, NY).

Then one day i hear a a streaming sound, thinking i left my faucet on, i walked into the bathroom and who and what do you think i saw, My cat ShitHead peeing in the toilet.

Well, so happens, he doesnt piss in the littler box anymore, so i started to walk my house with my camera, and viola, i cought him. Now all i need is a video, with sound.

My parents had a cat in the barn for micing and 2 days after her kittens were born, she was attacked by a dog and killed. My parents bottle fed 5 babies and believe it or not, they all survived. They kept two, who are now so spoiled they think they're human. Batman, jumps on the table and can turn the ceiling fan on by pulling the cord and Lucky answers the phone when it rings by knocking it off of the receiver. However, the newest baby is Sunny D; a beautiful palomino :) Here's the pics - I love the one of Lucky - he lays in my moms lap every night when she gets home from work.

Oh ya, you can buy it at Walmart or the grocery store too for that matter. Just don't get the "spray on" stuff, it doesn't work. They prefer the real deal. I grow it here throughout the summer and our cats are always in it.
Here's some info on it...

Thanks! That's nifty!

Awww, Sunny D is gorgeous...I have a palomino, Paji (means golden hair), he is simply lovely. Is it this foals mother who has colic now?

I was really, really against that name - I wanted to name him Legolas :DThe people who adopted Egan's brother named him Legolas (we had christened him Alfie)...he was so damn cute. They lost him to a seizure on Thanksgiving after he was stung by a bee:( Here is his pic...precious little man.

Awww, Sunny D is gorgeous...I have a palomino, Paji (means golden hair), he is simply lovely. Is it this foals mother who has colic now?Yes, it's his mother. She's not doing any better, poor thing. The vet suggested taking her to Lexington for surgery, but who's to say if even that will help or if she'd survive the trip there. There appears to be more than colic going on because she's running a fever and her bowels are moving; with colic, she'd have no bowel movement. Poor, poor baby. Sunny D knows his mama is sick and it just breaks my heart.

I mentioned the surgery option before, but from what I have seen, read, people I have talked to, the chances with surgery are not very good. The complications that can arise are really tough for a horse to overcome, and it's quite expensive. We do what we can for our cherished animals, and I know I would have done anything for Misha and her foal, but it was too late.
The bottom line is that she receive the best care possible and that you and your family feel at ease knowing you did all you could. The guilt I feel for not demanding more medical tests for my mare really weighed on me. Our vets are very simplistic and they treated me like I was being over emotional, but in the end, at least one of them admitted I was right when I said I knew she was dying. Many good thoughts to you all...keep me posted please.
