I was curious as to which program was better for d/l shows, bit terrat or antsdownloader? I have seen good things from both sides, but have had touble getting started with the antsdownloader. I want something that is easy to follow, and has a fast d/l rate. Any comments are welcomed. Thanks.

I use them both, sometimes you can get just amazing speeds w/ BT (150-300 kbs), but usually it'll take a couple days to get a show. W/ ants, you get a pretty constant speed and a decent one at that (40-80 kbs). The thing that I like about BT is that you can spread the music to more than one person at a time, so in a way it gets spread faster. Most of the shows I get w/ BT have pretty good speeds except fot the DMB shows, those just take me FOREVER, I think I'm just going to wait 'till ants gets them and get them from here.
Hope this helps in a way and have fun. There's a lot out there.

ants downloader is 10000000% times better than Bit Torrent.
the problem with BT is that you are 100% dependant on other users. more users = faster speeds. less users = slower speeds.
the great thing about the ants downloader is that you always get great speeds.

Yeah, true, I guess I was kind of comparing it more to Further. But there's way more variety in the BT world, at least that I've found. But if it's just DMB you're after, I agree w/ Mark.

can you explain it to me then? that is how i understood it.
edit: then why are people always asking other to open their windows? is it the more complete downloads people are sharing, the faster the speeds you get?

The speed of BT is entirly based on the seed.
If the seed can only upload at 5kps then the fast anyone will get (once they catch up) is 5kps. You could continue to get more and more people but you will still only get as fast as the seed can send out.
Also, adding more people doesn't mean it will be faster because you are also increasing your download rate. This means evertime a new person comes on they offer up (a limited) upload to the total amount. Yes this increases the total but not the avearage because now there is another person downloading. So averages will stay the same. (In many cases even go done since a person can download faster then they can upload.)
The only times when you will see good speeds from BT is when you are playing catch-up. There are 2 examples of this. 1: The seed is very slow and everyone is at the max download point waiting for more info (ie 100 people (everyone) are at 60% because thats all the seed has sent out). You join. You now have 100 people that have nothing to do but upload to you. There is no one else. You are catching up. 2: Everyone has just finished and there are a lot of opens compared to closed. Again this refers to the idea that ones download rate is much faster then there upload rate. Meaning that for every 5 completes you will get 1 user with a fast download rate. Now if more users join. Ut o! you can forget about "more users = faster" because now those 5 complets have to spread to 2 people instead of just one.

The correct asumption is: More completes = Faster but more incompletes = slower. The more incompletes is 99% of the case.
thanks for the info, joe.
