I'm kinda stuck on the 1st jam. Its because the timing is not constant, it changes randomly throughout the jam. Here's the part:

E:-----------------------
B:-----------------------
G:-----------------------
D:-----------------------
A:------------5-6-7-8--
E:-5-6-7-8-------------

Any help would be appreciated.

P.S. Also, does anyone know of a Dave solo performance of DIDO that includes that jam?

I guess that's the only thing to do...

But you know how every once in a while someone posts a question about a part of a song that they just can't get the rhythm to? Everyone seems to have one little thing they can't get, no matter how simple it seems to others. This is mine I guess...I'm just rambling now...armchairs....fickle grandparents...dirty underwear...

lol, thanks. And don't be so harsh on yourself, I didn't try DMB songs till my 3rd year on the guitar...and obviously there are still things I can't get. :)

true, nobody's perfect, but if you set high expectations you push yourself a bit harder. not that you don't, but have you checked anything from 2001? there were lots of solo preformances then

listen to any of the D&T 03 shows with it...you can always hear the rythmn better on there.

ehh..yeah thanks, i tried that though. Firstly, Dave seems to play a different rhythm...and even if not..Timmy distracts me more than the full band with his damn plucking...

btw, do you have 3/29/03? it's exactly the same as any other DIDO, rythmn-wise.

Yea, but Timmy really does distract me with the high notes

Gonna have to just go and listen to the damn thing for 2 hours :D

A bit less than 4 years I think. I don't think this is out of reach, I'm just being lazy. I can play basically 99.5% of Dave's stuff. What's lacking is his exact style, but I guess everyone has their own.

Gladly, I'd probably even learn from you...except I dont have any way of recording myself...

What exactly do you need? Just a computer mic? I'm a bit clueless when it comes to these damn boxes...

Anyway, if you need help with the rest of the song, you can check out Dave's solo version from 7/21/92, they have it on Ants. He starts the show by himself and happens to play DIDO. Its missing the jam I want, but its got the rest. Oh...its missing the outro jam too, but that should be pretty easy to get from just the CD version.

all you need is a mic....I think I have that version...isn't it 7/8/92?

he calls the song "smelly shoes" or something...its still not the best quality and I cant make out some of the parts...

He does play it there, but that's not the one I meant.

It is indeed 7/21...and its a MUCH clearer recording. Check it out

I really have to get a mic...

I sat there and listened to it for about half an hour lol. Well I just took it apart piece by piece. I got the rhythm of the first measure, played that a bunch of times, and went on to the next. It took a while, but there actually is a weird pattern in the way he plays it. Its just Dave being random...but he remembers his own randomness. Its memorization until it becomes recognition :D
