I finally got enough balls to play at the local open mic night. It was packed (I would say about 100 people at least) and I was a nervous wreck. I got up there and forgot what I was doing, couldn't find the right strings to pluck and had the shaky hands going on top of that. I played Waiting on an Angel and Visions of Johanna. It was weird being up there because what you hear through the speakers sounds like crap, so I though I was doing horrible, but the crowd seemed to dig it. Anyway, I had a blast and look forward to the next one. The guys that put this open mic night on record the entire show and will be giving me a CD in a few weeks. I'll post it then.

awesome man! yeah I know all about crappy monitor sound. Once you realize the sound in the crowd and the sound on stage are completely different you won't be so shaky anymore. you'll just be pissed off with the sound guy for giving you crappy sound.

way to go man! dutch power! ;)

Great job man. It gets easier. I played live for the first time after playing guitar for only 3-4 months back in April. The more exposure you get playing out, the easier it gets. The first time is always the toughest. COngrats though!

I just recently got the nerve to sing when i play drunk at home with friends around. So you should be proud of playing in front of such a large crowd.
