View Full Version : Odd problem after mp3 conversion

I have converted my downloaded files to mp3 in order to listen on my iPod. However, in a confusing scenario, I have the mp3 files of a show on a cd as data files, I attempted to place the files onto another computer but received the following error: Cannot copy file: Data error (cyclic redundancy check).
A few of the files were able to transfer, the other ones were denied.
Anyone have any idea as to what the problem is, and any solutions?
Thank you

It is an error detection scheme that useds parity bits generated by polynomial encoding of digital signals, appends those party bits to the digital signal, and uses decoding algorithms that detect errors in the received digital signal. If a fix is required, it may be accomplished through the use of an automatic repeat-request from the (ARQ) system

What is ARQ, where can I get it?

What speed did you burn the CD at?

I think 24x
Would speed really matter? Should I try it again slower?
cd's burned at 24x can only be read by a drive that is 24x or higher.

The other drive is a 40x.....
I retried using a slower burning speed however and I was able to transfer the files.
Thanks for your help.

Speed can matter. In fact, most times that you get the CRC, reburning the cd at a slower speed will solve your problems.

You just need to reburn the disc.

Since when? So If I burn a CD at 48x (like I burn all of my SHN's), none of these people I trade with will be able to read them unless they have a 48x drive as well?

I was thinking along the same lines. Once a cd is burned, I have never heard of readability issues due to a slow drive.
Can anyone else corroborate this?
