I've been searching through the help section of this web site and I still can't figure out why I can't get this stuff to work. I've already downloaded the show and the mkw audio compressor. I've been dragging the concert file over the mkw icon on my desktop but nothing is happening (besides the main screen coming up for the mkw audio compressor. I'm really frustrated and I've tried just about everything. I even downloaded winamp and the shnamp plug and that isnt doing anything for me either. Could somebody please help me. I know I must sound like a retard but I'm really getting upset over this cuz it took me like 3 days to download this concert. Please help ants.

Open the mkw Audio Compressor program first, and then open the folder where the shn's are. Then just drag the shn over to the main window of mkwACT and let go.

Have you ran the MD5s?

Run the MD5's, then drag the FILES over (.shn), not the FOLDER (.shnf). That should be it.
If not, try uninstalling/reinstalling mkw.

You drag the MD5's into the MKW window.
i'm wondering something from reading your posts, though: Did you actually download the shows, or are you trying to decompress the .ants file?

which are the md5 files? All I have is the shn files that I downloaded through the antsdownloader. I think I downloaded the show correctly. After I download the shn's how do I get the md5s?

the ants downloader downloads a full show which contains 3 seperate types of files. SHNs, MD5s, and TXTs. a basic show will look something like this:
dmb1999-05-26.txt
dmb1999-05-26d1.md5
dmb1999-05-26d2.md5
dmb1999-05-26d1t01.shn
[etc]
dmb1999-05-26d2t01.shn
[etc]
the MD5 is the checksum. you need to have those, so make sure the downloader downloaded them. when you find them, their icon will say MD5. double click on however many of them are included in the download (sometimes its just one for the whole show, other times its one per disc). make sure all your shns "verify ok".
after you are done verifying your show, you drag the shns themself to the MKW program and wait for them to decompress to wav. then you can burn and listen to them.
if you followed those steps and still seem to not be able to do anything, state exactly what you did and what happened.

alright, I went into the antsdownloader and I saw the three types of files. The Mp5 files are there. Except where is the mp5 icon? Do I have to drag the files from the antsdownloader or should it be in my folder where I'm keeping the concert files?

youre confusing me. first things first: MD5. just so we're on the same page and not getting terms confused.
now... are these files on your computer? once theyre downloaded, you dont need the ants downloader anymore. did you actualy download them? if you did, find the MD5 files and double click them. when you do that, tell me what happens.

I opened up the concert file and the antsdownloader pops up and says that the download is finished. I scrolled through the different files in the downloader and saw that the md5's were downloaded. Now where can I find them now that they are downloaded? Was an icon suppossed to appear on my desktop or something?

do this:
Start -> Search -> files / folders -> search for *.shn
that should bring up where your files are. go to that folder and then click on the md5s.

alright, awesome, I found 3 md5's, I clicked on them, and they verified all that needed to be verified. Now do I take all the shn files from that this folder and drag them over to the mkw?

Yes, that's what you need to do. They'll decompress to WAV, then you can burn them to audio CD.
Erich

yes, you do that, and they should all turn to wavs to burn them.
if you run the ants downloader configuration (start -> ants downloader) you should be able to set the directory (folder) where your files download to for next time.

yeah, I guess the problem was they were downloading to a random folder in some dark corner of my laptop. Erich, you are the man. Thanx so much. I owe you

BTW you should not have to drag the files at all but just double click them. I find this to be a little quicker and it opens mkw automatically.

Well, that depends on how yer PC is setup to handle .shn files. If I double-click an SHN, then Winamp plays it. Drag-and-drop is more foolproof. And if the explorer shell extensions are setup right, then right-clicking should give you the options to decode, encode, verify, etc, etc.
Erich

yeah, double clicking plays the shns on winamp for me. same with flacs
i'll catch you

The fastest way to create wavs is to select the shns you want to decode and then right click and hit "decode to wav".

Just got home and found my files. Big thanks to everyone. I'm an idiot when it comes to computers and have been trying to figure out how to use BT for the Groove and the downloader here, now I can do both. Yeah. Thanks again.
