Yeah, I reserved mine for pickup next Friday (or sooner:) ) and it too comes with a gig bag. I think mine is free, but the final price is about $570 with tax. Is that about what you paid?

So is that what you decided on, Chris???
Good for you, if you did. I've played several 110s now, and they are GREAT guitars.
I think you will be 10 times happier.....plus, I bet you catch the Taylor bug now!!!:D

Its a pretty cool guitar, especially if you like taylors...the sound is great, i just don't like the fact that its $550 and doesn't have a pickup and i don't really like the composite body...if you like it though go for it...i think the sound is whats most important, you can always have a pick up installed so if you have the money it sounds like you'll soon have a new gweeter...

Yeah, pretty much. You convinced me about the lifetime warranty and the price is about the same that I'd pay for the Garrison. Plus its a Taylor, and I already have the Taylor bug:D

What's a composite body?
Chris

09-06-2003, 01:21 PM
That might not be the technical term...(correct me if i'm wrong but )the body isn't made up of a solid wood (i.e rosewood, koa, etc) its a bunch of woods and other materials put together...its not necessarily a bad thing...but with solid wood guitars the sound gets better with age...and in my opinion the composite body makes the guitar feel not as strong (like it could break under my arm if i squeezed it too hard) ....If you like it get it though, it sounds good and if you like it get it....

Composite body = laminate woods and solid woods.
Specifically laminated Sapele back and sides, and a Sitka Spruce top.

You can try to look up a store location on the Taylor website, but you've probably already done that. If you go to a city, I'm sure you could find a few at a Guitar Center or Sam Ash. You might be able to order directly from Taylor (check the website for contact info) but that might be more expensive. As a third option, I'm pretty sure that the store where I bought mine, Wildwood Music in Louisville, CO, ships them. But shipping will cost mullah.
Upon further review, just go here if you haven't yet:
http://www.taylorguitars.com/dealers/northeast.asp
And if that doesn't work....there's always ebay as a last resort. I always see 314ce's on there, but I wouldn't buy a guitar without playing it first.
Hope this helps, and sorry for ramblin on.

Very cool!
Hey, btw--->*sidebar*--->noticed the Bears logo in your avatar. Do you live in Chicago?
A bunch of Chicago-area Taylor owners are going to get together next month for a jam session.
Shoot me an email if you get a chance and I can give you all the details.......that is if you live in the Chicago area.

I love the sound and the playablility but the neck feels horrible. I hate the way the neck feels in my hands. I played my 110 at first but now I just pick it up for 2 seconds then set it down for 1 month at a time. I can't get enough of my 414 Ltd. The 110 is strictly for camping and that is it. peace Jason my 2 cents

I do live in the Chicago area, but I still consider myself to be not very good so I'll probably have to sit it out. But when I get good I'd definitely be interested.

The taylor 214 is a grand auditorium body, 200 = series, 14 = grand auditorium, the CE stands for Cutaway Electronics" So the 214 is a grand auditorium with no cutaway, and no electronics. This numbering system applies to all Taylors, like Daves 914ce, it's a 900 series, the 14ce means it's a grand auditorium cutaway with electronics. Just thought you might like to know what all those numbers mean. :D My opinion, after playing Chris's guitar a little, I think it's pretty friggin sweet, and he will agree, just wait!

Your Taylor 110? Maybe, but mine is a Grand Auditorium and the 110 is a full dreadnought.....I think.

nah, the x14 models are all GA's, same shape as dave's 6-string taylors. all x10 models are dreadnoughts. take a look on taylor's site and you'll see the difference. other than the body shape, the 110 and 214 are fairly similar, but the 214 is a little more upmarket, just slightly closer to a 300 and a little further away from the big baby (which i have and is a wonderful guitar)
