can't make any excuses, both sides had their injuries. Defense just didn't show up today, and I think we should have run the ball more early in the game.
I can't think of anything more frustrating than losing to Bill Volek. That makes me wanna puke.

you and me both. He is such a fucking piece of trash. His team just pulled off a huge upset in the playoffs, and the first thing he does is get in a yelling match with opposing fans :lol
He is such a joke.
I hope somebody on the Patriots breaks both of his legs next week. Do you have any connections to any players, like you did the guy on the Chargers? I would love to see him get severely injured.

seriously, and I dont say this often, but I would have sent Sanders a love note if he just ran balls out across the field and killed that guy on contact for running his no-talent mouth. Someone needs to say "dude, you are quite possibly the WORST QB in the NFL right now. The only reason that your team won was because you have a few talented guys on your team who can catch your abysmal passes and a defense who came up big when it really counted. Shut. Up. Permanently."
I mean, I'm ballsy and I wouldnt say SHIT to tens of thousands of Indy fans IN indy when my team just won. I would keep my damn mouth shut. During the game, sure, i'll smack talk, but ummmm do you want to get jumped in the parking lot? Jesus.

But, like, you know what I mean. I'm a HUGE DOUCHEBAG when it comes to sports sometimes, almost to the point of a ranting and raving idiot. But even I know that if I went to an Indy/NE game in Indy and NE won or whatever, I would just quietly wear my shirt, sit there, talk to people. I would NOT be pissing anyone off. Why? cuz my indy fan friends wouldn't protect me! :lol
Philip Rivers just needs to not confuse beating Indy as SD being better. Okay, your team was better on THIS day. Indy is still better.

Not because of anything he has done right. If anything, that's because the SD defense has known when to turn it on when it counts.
Like I said, Rivers might be THE WORST quarter back in the NFL currently. He needs to shut his fat fucking mouth until he has, oh, I don't know, a successful playoff run.
You don't see Rex Grossman running off at the mouth? Why? Because he's terrible.

I would take Young, Kitna, or Harrington (close) over Rivers. All those guys had pretty good seasons, they just don't have the weapons on their teams. Kitna had a pretty good year with Detroit, but again, those receivers are kinda young or not used to working together yet.
You give Young LT, Gates and Galloway? Fuck, the guy wouldn't have to run it himself.
Boller isn't technically the starter for Baltimore, McNair is. Same with Greise and Orton. Grossman is worse, and the starter, than Rivers, that's true.

I'm sorry, but regardless Philip Rivers helped carry his team to the AFC Championship with little help from LT or Gates. Jackson and Chambers were his primary targets and they are far from being top 10 WR's in this league. BTW, Galloway plays for the Bucs.:)

I don't know about Eli with the way he's been playing, but otherwise I agree.
here is the thing, Rivers has been one of the best QBs in the last 8 weeks.
Phillip Rivers
QBR: 83.4
TDs: 21
INTS: 15
Pct: 60.2
Eli Manning
QBR: 73.9
TDs: 24
INTS: 20
Pct: 56.1
factor in that LT gets the ball more often then not in the Red Zone id say Rivers is clearly better.
Post Season Both have been excillent and are looking good. only big difference in the One INT for rivers and a lower completions rate. But, the INT was a down the field throw that you could blame on Chambers.

thats why i took the stats from the entire season, you get the ups and the downs.
I never said he was better than Peyton or the best QB
I mean sure technically he had a better Passer rating today, but it obvious who is better right now and its Peyton, he is a veteran who has had the same coaching staff and players around him for a long time now. Rivers is on coach #2 main WR #3 offensive cordinator #2 and its his 2nd Season.
he is just better than most QBs, especially if you look at the factors involved.

Just cuz I think that the NFL is on the side of the Colts, doesn't mean I think they are cheaters. I just think that the NFL is on their side. I mean, if you listened to that Chargers/Colts game on the radio, with the way the commentators were talking, you would have thought that SD shouldn't have even showed up....just sayin'.
And to be honest, I dunno how I would react to the Colts breaking the rules. I'd make jokes about it, but I wouldn't have ever default comment about something being "oh, well they're cheaters".
The only thing Manning cheats on is his wife, sooo...

I don't hate you and I don't hate the Pats. I've really enjoyed watching them play this year and Brady is honestly one of my favorite players. They've won me a lot of money in each of the Super Bowls they've played in the last few years, as I've had the intelligence to bet on them. I actually like them far more than I do the Colts, and feel that 2007 should be coined as "The Year of the Bandwagoner" and cannot stand all the Colts fans that have come out of the woodwork. Then again, this year could easily be referred to as "The Year of the Arrogant Bostonians" but I prefer that over the other option. Plus I'm really gonna enjoy the Packers-Pats Super Bowl!:)
I'm just saying that if I met you, the fact that you're a Pats fan would be lingering over our heads.:p

it's such a shame how our defense played today, considering how dominant they were this year.
The Colts should somehow try to avoid having a buy in the playoffs from here on out....they lose everytime.

Also, that Ref that worked the Chargers sideline was a joke. Some of the flags he threw were just stupid. That PI call that Wayne was given? That pass was 15 yards away, no way that Wayne could catch that.

I didn't say the Chargers were getting the calls, or that the Colts got the shaft, I just pointed out that one official was doing a bad job all around all day. Both sided of the ball.
The one play I pointed out was Wayne (a Colts player in case you didn't know) was helped out by a stupied PI call. That bone-head call helped the Colts out.

Colts owner hopes Dungy will return but name Caldwell as heir apparent
NEW YORK -- Assistant head coach Jim Caldwell would replace Tony Dungy if the Indianapolis Colts coach retires, team owner Jim Irsay said Thursday night.
Irsay hopes Dungy will return and expects to speak to him this weekend, the owner said at a party celebrating an exhibition of the Jack Kerouac "On The Road" manuscript he owns at The New York Public Library.
Irsay said he might be able to make accommodations for Dungy such as allowing him to attend his son's high school football games in Florida on Friday nights. But he has no doubt that Dungy's commitment will be "100 percent" if he continues coaching.
"That's the type of guy he is," Irsay said.
Otherwise, he said, "Jim Caldwell would be the guy."
The Colts, the Super Bowl champions last year, were 13-3 in the regular season before falling 28-24 to San Diego last week in their playoff opener.
Caldwell has been an assistant to Dungy the last seven years -- one in Tampa Bay and the last six with the Colts, where he has coached quarterback Peyton Manning. Caldwell filled in for Dungy for one game in 2005 following the death of Dungy's 18-year-old son, James.
Caldwell spent more than 20 years in college football, and his only head coaching experience came at Wake Forest. He spent eight seasons with the Demon Deacons and led them to a bowl game in 1999.
Caldwell turned 52 on Wednesday and has interviewed with the Baltimore Ravens, Atlanta Falcons and Arizona Cardinals for head coaching jobs over the past year.

And as long as we're talking about Indy, I hope Indianapolis gets the 2012 Super Bowl ... and this from a guy who wishes every Super Bowl were played in San Diego. Indy deserves it. It's the most walkable downtown in America.
-Peter King
Indy deserves a shot at hosting the 2012 SB. Unlike Phoenix, everything is concentrated in the downtown area which will be great for guests. Even more hotels are being built, plus the city's cleanliness and welcoming atmosphere can't be beat. And of course the new stadium would be the perfect site for the game.

hmmm....I guess I don't understand what you were expecting, it's not like were a major Metro area or anything. I work with people that come in from all over the country and almost everyone loves the way the downtown is set up. It's east to find things, and super ease to get around.

lol. well i mean i wasnt disapointed, but ive seen some places that are just uber cool. San Diego is one of coures. downtown is the shit now and only getting better.
Portland is pretty cool, Tempe is actually pretty cool for a smaller city.
i just wasnt blown away.

yeah we had SB events like 40-60 minutes away from the stadium. the cool part about that though is that the WHOLE metro area got into the gig. it wasnt a Phoenix SB it was an Arizona SB. since the stadium is actually in Glendale. Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa, Phoenix, Glendale and i think Suprise all had events. that gets everyone involved in the area. after all Phoenix is one of the largest metro areas in the country.
but all that aside, if San Diego gets the stadium built on the bay in Chula Vista... and the gaslamp/ballpark district starts to run down to it. that is gunna be one of the sickest parties in the world. SB will be there every year. :thumbsup

- Indianapolis is allowing its six unrestricted free agents (outside linebacker Rocky Boiman, defensive tackle Dan Klecko, wide receiver Aaron Moorehead, offensive guard Jake Scott, tight end Mike Seidman and defensive end Josh Thomas) to entertain offers from other NFL teams.
- the Colts officially confirmed that the team has offered one-year qualifying tenders of $927,000 to all five of their restricted free agents (tight ends Ben Utecht and Bryan Fletcher, center/offensive guard Dylan Gandy, safety Matt Giordano, and defensive tackle Darrell Reid).
Any of Indianapolis' restricted free agents are free to sign an offer sheet with another team through April 20. The Colts, however, may opt to match the offer or receive compensation from the new team based on the level of the original qualifying offer.
- Defensive tackle Ed Johnson, an exclusive rights free agent, was tendered an offer by the Colts and will remain with the team.
- Wide receiver/kick returner Craphonso Thorpe, the team's other exclusive rights free agents, was not offered a contract and has been released.

Once again, the Indianapolis Colts’ loss is the Tennessee Titans’ gain.
Jake Scott, the Colts’ starting right guard since 2004 and an unrestricted free agent, has agree to a four-year contract with the AFC South rival Titans, according to his agent, Ken Staninger. Specific financial details were not immediately available, but it’s believed the deal is worth nearly $20 million.
Scott is the latest Colts player to relocate to Nashville, Tenn. In previous seasons the Titans signed cornerback Nick Harper, linebackers David Thornton and Gilbert Gardner, tight end Ben Hartsock and defensive tackle Corey Simon.
Scott’s departure from Indy was assured when the team signed its other starting guard, Ryan Lilja, to a five-year, $20 million contract.
Damnit! Do the Colts players not know that if they leave, they don't HAVE to go to the Titans?!?

No kidding, I don't think they got the memo about this being the first year for our new stadium - it'd be nice to have homefield adv.
But considering the gap b/w the level of difficulty between our schedule and that other rival team's schedule - don't think it's going happen.
Oh well ... as long as the injury bug doesn't hit the Colts (again), we should be fine.

Progress in motion: New stadium roof to close for 1st time
It may take all week, but the roof on Lucas Oil Stadium will begin closing for the first time Monday. Workers will start closing the west panel of the retractable roof a foot or two at a time, said Bob May, construction manager of the project for Huber Hunt Nichols.
Testing will begin on the eastern section once the west side is closed. The process is meant to test cable tension, emergency systems, computer controls and the structural behavior of the roof and the massive trusses holding it up. Some fast facts:
» Once it's fully operational: It will take nine to 11 minutes to open and the same time to close.
» Big mouth: The opening is slightly larger than three football fields.
» Power up: Closing the roof panels will take 960 horsepower. (A typical IndyCar Series car has a 650-horsepower engine.) The panels can be rolled open on their own weight.
» Weather-proof: The roof panels can be opened and closed in winds of up to 50 mph. The panels overlap to prevent leaks.
» Unique: It's the only NFL stadium retractable roof that splits lengthwise.

Colts player facing charges after arrest outside night club
http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080421/NEWS02/804210355
Indianapolis Colts running back Kenton Keith was arrested early Sunday after refusing to leave a Westside nightclub, according to a police report.
The incident occurred at the Cloud 9 nightclub, 5150 West 38th St., just after 3 a.m.
During the episode Keith kept repeating "I am a Colts player," police said.
Police officers and security guards were attempting to clear the parking lot after the club closed when they noticed that Keith, 27, 6700 block of Echo Lane, and other men with him were not leaving. According to the police report, the men ignored several requests to leave and began to dance, yell and lean into cars in the parking lot.
After telling the men several times to leave, police told them to put their hands on a vehicle. Keith initially refused and tried to pull out a cell phone to record the incident, according to the report. He eventually was handcuffed while officers sorted things out.
According to the police report, Keith "kept hollering that he was a Colts player, he wasn't doing anything wrong, and he would leave when he was ready."
Keith was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, resisting law enforcement, public intoxication and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, as another man with him was 19.
He was released Sunday after posting a $1,000 bond.
Formal charges have not yet been filed. Prosecutors were granted a 72-hour continuance and have until Wednesday to file charges against Keith, said Matt Symons, spokesman for Prosecutor Carl Brizzi.
The other people with Keith were released after cooperating with police.
Keith has been with the Colts for one season, when he rushed 121 times for 533 yards and scored four touchdowns.
He scored 29 touchdowns during the previous four seasons in the Canadian Football League.

uh-oh. Looks like someone has been watching the Pacers too much....
I find it hilarious that he felt the need to keep shouting "I'm a colts player!" First of all, if you have to shout it out to people rather than them just knowing who you are, it probably isn't going to help you anyway. Secondly, given what has happened recently with Pacers players, I wonder why he thought anyone would even give a shit that he was a player.

Now factor in the reality. They only play each other once in the regular season, then the Chargers will loose again early in the playoffs. The two teams will not even meet for a second game.

I'd like to point out that SD's underachieving ways will probably not end this season esp. with a tool like Rivers leading that team.
At least the Colts had a shitty defense to at least point to regarding their past underachieving ways.
SD has been STACKED on both sides of the ball and they still can't win shit.

Polian sat alone in his office for four straight days that February, watching every snap of each passer's college career; by a hair, he favored Manning. He convened a meeting of his scouts; sentiment in the room was 60-40 for Leaf -
^ thank God Polian didn't listen to them
"I asked if I could see Bill Polian before I left the building," Manning recalled last week. "So I went into his office, and Bill and coach [Jim] Mora were in there. Those are two of the most intimidating people I have ever known, and here I was, wanting to know what they were going to do. To be honest, I felt they were kind of stringing me along. So I said, 'I'd really like to come here if you want me. But if you don't, I promise you I'll come back and kick your ass for the next 15 years.' "
A surprised Polian replied, "Maybe we ought to take you then." And deep down, he loved the quarterback's moxie.

No kidding. I went to a number of games this year (only b/c I get them for free and they are real nice tix) and they can't even fill half that place up.
It's not even the mediocre play, but it's all the goons and thugs we got. Plus, there is absolutely no hope for the team - none. They need to blow this team up and start from scratch (something we should have done at least two years ago)
I love the Pacers, but damn hope Bird has figured out that we can't win with what we go now.

Plus, it's been reported that in this bar, Marvin often works the front door doing pat-downs and taking weapons from people as they enter the bar.

But on a more positive topic. I am excited about the Colts D, assuming they stay healthy. The Ends - one of the best in the league (if healthy) although it needs more depth. The tackles - young and energetic, they looked great last year, never would have known their lack of experience. LBs are solid - with Keiaho - he's going to be a pro-bowler in a year or two. The secondary - tough, athletic and hard-nosed - each guy from both corners to the FS and of course Bob Sanders can lay anybody out.

Oh, and whats up with Marvin Harrison?
It's basically the same team - with a better defense so ... yah, they are most definitely more than capable of winning at least another Super Bowl.
Last year's defense was devastated with injuries - specifically the D-line. The Colts Dungy Cover 2 is predicated on speed, especially on the edges - and you take away their top 2 ends (freeney and mathis) along with even more injuries to the backups - plus you take away their top 2 DTs (based on the roster before the season started) & and it's not surprising they lost in the playoffs. Indy also had injuries to their LB crew.
Assuming (& hoping) they can stay healthy, the upcoming team is easily a better team that won the Super Bowl.
With Marvin, I would imagine if there was substantial evidence that he was directly involved in the incident (other than owning the gun) it would have come out by now. But who knows - we'll just have to wait and see.
My bigger concern is how a player of Marvin's age can handle a serious injury. Obviously, it does not to be explained how valuable he is to the offense.
Though, at least Wayne showed he can be (& IS) the premiere receiver without the benefit of having a future HOF receiver on the other side. Also Clark showed he belongs in the top 3-5 receiving tight ends.
So yeah, Colts can and will the Super Bowl again :D

While Manning watched this morning’s practice with a light wrap on his left knee, defensive end Dwight Freeney and safety Bob Sanders practiced for the first time. Freeney has been recovering from surgery on his left foot while Sanders had offseason surgery on his right shoulder.
and the BAD news:
after weeks of the team expressing confidence the injured quarterback would be ready for the regular-season opener, some doubts have arisen.
“I think it’ll be close for Peyton,” owner Jim Irsay said when asked if Manning would be ready for the Sept. 7 opener at Lucas Oil against the Chicago Bears. “Only he will know if he’s ready. I think there’s a good chance he will be.

Damn....
Jeff Saturday is weighing options that include playing with an injured right knee or undergoing surgery that could force the Indianapolis Colts' three-time Pro Bowl center to miss a good portion of the 2008 season.
Quarterback Peyton Manning practiced for the first time Tuesday, without his friend and teammate. Manning and Saturday have been together for 126 regular-season games, the second-most starts by a quarterback and center in the NFL since 1970.

Shit!!
Settling on a return specialist became a higher priority for the Indianapolis Colts on Tuesday after they placed T.J. Rushing on the season-ending injured reserve list.
The third-year pro from Stanford suffered ligament damage to his right knee in Sunday's preseason loss to Buffalo.

I did the tour and also went to the game last Sunday. I really like the stadium. It was cool that the roof and the window were open at the beginning. The one thing I didn't like is the clusterf#ck around the escalators. That's a mess!! Or at least it was on the north end.
My company's season tickets are along the Colts sideline and around the 35 yard line. The only downfall is that they are pretty high up!!

Anyone want to go to the Colts game tonight? I have three tickest in section 617. Face value is $64, but at this point I'll take best offer.

:BANG Last year it was the D-line, now it's the O-line.
Honestly, maybe we should sit Manning a couple of games to see how the O-line does first. Questionable O-line with a less than 100% Manning with the Bears coming into town, and I don't care how bad they were in the pre-season - it doesn't matter.
Justice at Center (who? :ugh) and heaven help us, Charlie Johnson at guard, he's worthless. Hopefully Pollack is another Ugoh as a starting O-line rookie.
Polian must not only be a great football mind, GM, and scout - he must be some sort of psychic, he was able to see into the future and predict the injury bug that was to to hit the O-line and drafted accordingly.
GO COLTS!

Got to go to that game - nice seats too - 50 yard line 20 rows up. Thank god for my fiance's dad's connection, hopefully he'll send a couple my way at least once during the season.
BTW, great stadium but what the hell is up with the design of having limited access to and from the "Bud-lite zone", geez, it's a nightmare getting there and back to the seats.

boring and brutal.
I honestly fell asleep in the 1st half, and I wasn't even tired.
Since when do the friggin Colts put you to sleep? We were pathetic and incredibly boring last night. They need to get their heads out of their asses before next Sunday or we are going to get rolled again.

An offensive line full of rookies and "no-names" who have no idea what they're doing.
Last year it was the D-line, this year the O-line is decimated ... oh well better now than further down the season.

In a weak attempt to keep my hopes up, this season already reminds me of the Super Bowl run. Lots of players hurt, week to week changes, new people filling in holes....I just hope they find a way to win week to week like they did then.

I think we've been transported to an evil alternative universe where the good teams (live the Colts and Pats) are now bad, and the bad teams (Like the Bills and the Packer) are now good.

I think we may have to hook up. You know, to make ourselves feel better about our crappy team. But, only if you slap me around a bit first.

I honestly don't really think yesterday was luck....we capitalized on Sage Rosenfels' stupidity.
Our team still has glaring holes, and we can't stop anybody....but i guess a win is a win.
Reggie's catch was one of the best I've ever seen.....Not because of the catch, but I think he is now definitely a top 3 receiver in the league.
