Sucks when I don't get to see the colts play, makes my weekends a less exciting...is that sad?

I've been a season ticket holder for a while now. The last few home games have been pretty tuff to sit through. I have a bad feeling that we're going to get a few L's and not W's at the next few games.

Petyon Manning is the modern day Dan Marino, great quaterback hall of famer for sure. But will retire with no ring. Hes not going to have a better shot at it than last year and they blew it.
On a side note.....his commercials are hillarious. DECAF! *STOMP* *STOMP*.

Please do me a favor, and come back and contribute something useful, something that hasn’t already been said a million times.
For totally selfish reasons, I freak’n hope he does win a ring soon, just to shut all the haters up.

Something useful, ok here's something to think about. Thanksgivings for the Mannings are going to be great when little brother is showing his ring off to everyone and big brother is crying in the conner.

My point was that what you said had be said over and over. Everyone knows it. I'll accept it after he retires, but wait till the guy retires to say he's today's Marino. Nobody knows what's going to happen with the team in a few years. Hell, he could end up on a totally different team, and walk into a ring.

For his sake i hope so as well. I never like to see great football players who love playing the game end up with no ring (like Marino). I don't like the Steelers one bit, but it was good to see the bus go out on top.

I totaly agree. That could not have been a better story. The same could be said for Elway. That's why I try and tell people to wait until Manning's is done before they say he can't win a ring. People used to say Elway would never win a ring, but then he did in the end.

No, there is an entire Indy Racing League (IRL) that travels all over the US just like NASCAR. It's start did begin with the Indy 500, but they do race other places.
Plus you have a split league called CART. I forget what that stands for, but the same 'type' of open wheel racing.

Been reading about this guy, apparently he has lost some speed/quickness and has some issues with (nothing serious) injuries - but in the NFL who hasn't
He is basically a run-stuffer taking on blocks which is exactly what the Colts need - a big guy in the middle who can get some penetration (or at least not get pushed 3 yards off the line of scrimmage) and absord 2 or more blockers - freeing up the LBs - Now all they have to do is wrap up and actually make tackles (if they don't overpursuit the RB)
Oh and his nickname is "Booger"
Wonder how this is going to affect the salary cap in the future :rolleyes
GO COLTS!

The Colts run D can only get better and a 300 lb. DT SHOULD help.
I disagree with Stokley - not too many nickel backs can cover him esp. with his quickness, route running (Manning is apparently very comfortable with him) and "sure" hands. I just think he adds another dimension. We have the 2 TE sets but with him the Colts can also have a very good 3rd WR to spread the field out (with 3 WR offensive sets) - which w/o him the Colts are forced to put Moorehead out there and are apparently thinking about signing some other WR (forget his name - he is old and white - he use to be pretty good) Also the few plays he has played this year - he's been really good.
But I do agree that the defense is the main concern.......obviously
With Sanders I was hoping he'd be back this week to get some reps in and get some live game action considering after Washington the games are going to get tougher (@ NE and Den.)

No clue
With Booger, all he has to do is try to get some penetration and AT LEAST not get pushed back (which has been the case with the DTs every game this season) which will hopefully force some doubleteams on him - freeing up the LBs - who hopefully worked on some tackling drills during the bye week.
It's really getting painful to watch the run D. It has to get better or I am going to get an aneurysm.

Mathis was added to the injury report on Thursday, and Dungy said Sanders and Stokely were the only two players to miss practice Thursday. Utecht returned to practice Thursday after missing Wednesday.
“We’ll see how he is,” Dungy said. “If he comes in (Friday) with no ill-effects, I think he’ll be ready to play.
Stokley likely will not play Sunday, Dungy said Wednesday. Sanders likely will try to practice Friday, Dungy said.
“We’re probably pretty close other than those two guys,” Dungy said.
Man thats a lot of ?'s. Doesn't look like Sanders and Stokley are in this weekend. :thumbsdow
Dungy seems to think Booger will be in quite a bit. That's good news. We're gonna need as much help up front as we can get this weekend.

2. I was refering to the Colts Oct. 29th game with the Broncos.
3. This is a Colts thread, thats why Oct. 29th was in reference to the Colts! Not to quick I take it.
3. That will be a harder game than the Pats. The Pats suck this year (see there conference and record).
4. That rivalry is overhyped.
5. I'm guess your not the biggest Colts fan out there worrying about games that are 3 weeks away.
6. I'd be more worried about getting upset by the Redskins this week.

Holy shit, I thought the roof was coming down at todays game. When Manning was there on the truf, face down, - everyone holding their breath - I thought the air was sucked out and the dome was gonna fall.
A good solid win today, we played much better than I had thought we'd play. But it just goes to show, we're only one bad play away from the end of our season.
Both Marvin and Reggie looked great, and I continue to wonder why Addia is not our starter.

^^^ i'm betting on the Patriots.
Good win today indeed. I, along with the rest of the 52K at the Dome, was about to shit my pants when Manning went down. How unreal was he in the 2nd half? I've never seen him play that good I don't think. He was possessed and pretty much said fuck you to the Redskins with his play.
and yes, why does Rhodes still get carries? Addai averaged 8 yards a carry today and is just much more explosive than Dom. I believe he is going to be a great player for many years.
Hopefully Reagor is ok, sounds like he is in pretty bad shape. Booger looked great though :)!

Either it's stupidity or........... well no it's just stupidity to point something out something that is clearly obvious and apparent to just about everyone who has any slight interest in the NFL. If people are going to criticise the Colts (which I don't mind) at least bring up intelligent evaluation of the actual GAME of football relating to Indy (lack of size on D-line, mistackles, etc....)
Ever notice that when people criticise the Colts that is the only thing they come up with and the pathetic thing is that Indy has some major weaknesses that could truly be their downfall (i.e. running D) - people's football intelligence seem to go down when discussing/criticising the Colts. It doesn't bother me as much, as it it amuses me that people actually think that they are bringing up a novel idea - idiots
Anyways, I really don't have much "bitching" to do about the Colts this week, they played relatively well on both sides; really can't complain. And yeah, anytime Manning hits the turf, my house goes completely silent and the HR goes up.
I don't understand how tackling Manning around the neck was not roughing the passer.

The thing is, it's not like he's a year or two out from walking away from the game. Damn, at least wait until then. I remember a QB out in Denver how never won a ring till his last two seasons.
Was that an Elway referrence?! ;)
Oh, and speaking of Manning = Dan Marino v. 2.0, do you ever watch the post/pre/during game show with Marino and Boomer Asaiason (spelling)? Boomer is always saying "Well, you know that Petyon IS today's Dan Marino!" and its sooooooooo funny cuz Marino gets really annoyed.

I'm doing good for a Moday, like you said.
Are you going to the game on the 5th? That game is gonna be great. I had a Pat's fan tailgate with us yesterday. She just moved here from Boston about 3 months ago. We went pretty easy on her, though it was a little ruff at first.

Unfortunately NO i cannot go. Stupid me living in Baltimore. Plus, its not like you can ever even THINK of getting a ticket to a Pats game (and even if you did, you'd pay 300 bucks to sit in the nose-bleed section). Hell, you can't even get a ticket to a RAVENS game.
Oooh that pats fan is pretty brave. I would have talked shit though ;) I went to some all-steelers bar after our game yesterday and I ran my mouth so badly. Good thing I was friends with most of the people there. But one stupid fat bitch came up to me and told me to shut up before she "terrible toweled" me. I then asked her if that meant sitting on me and eating my extremeties. One day I'm going to get punched in the face, I swear :lol

Seriously! Although I do make NFL terms into verbs sometimes. "Don't MAKE ME Rodney HARRISON your ass!" But the towel. uhhhhhh...but she put the terrible in towel, no doubt. I wish I had a picture of her. She was rockin' a pseudo mullet. I think her jersey was a 3XL. Apparently, she's this notorious bully in that part of DC in terms of sports. I don't care, if you come up to me and tell me that Tom Brady is a "fag" right after your lame ass team (the REIGNING SUPER BOWL CHAMPS OOOOOOOH) just lost to a bunch of retards I wouldn't trust with a potato gun who have a RB for a QB, I'm going to tell you to shut that fat trap of yours.

Yeah, it certainly looks like it.
But then again, if we keep winning games, it really won't matter. We could even lose a game or two. I wouldn't mind them not having the pressure of being an undefeated team when it comes time for the playoffs.

Also, I don't know if you heard, but Denver's left guard is out next week. They're going to playing a rockie up against Freeney. :)

"The Colts have ruled Reagor out for Sunday’s game at Denver. The NFL Network reported he wants to return this season but doctors have not advised when that may be." - from the Indianapolis Star
Glad he is going to be ok, but this leads me to believe that he might be out for a significant amount of time.
Unbelievable - The Colts trade for DT McFarland from TB, and Reagor (DT starter, who apparently makes the line calls) gets in an accident and might be out for sometime the very same week. The Colts get Bob Sanders back as their SS after being out the entire year so far and consequently loses Mike Doss FS for the year with a torn knee ligament............:freak :BANG
Luckily they keep on winning and are 3 games ahead of Jax in the AFC South - I just hope they stay relatively healthy the rest of the year
Even with all the apparent "unlucky" injuries - I'm just glad Manning got up from that (dirty, illegal) hit by Washington DE (can't remember his name) - I will just refer to him as a dirty bastard.

While obviously Freeney is not having the year everyone expected - he is not having as "bad" a year as experts are making it out to be. He is dealing with offenses built not only around the run (most offensive plays against the Colts D have been running plays - didnt look it up or anything but I'm sure that's the case) but also around short 3-5 step drop quick passes. With all that, he is dealing with double teams from LT and TE, while also being chipped by RBs. Again even with all that, he is still putting pressure and hurrying QBs all season on passing plays. What I have been more annoyed or pissed about with not only Freeney but Mathis as well is the complete lack of run contain around the edge (although it was better this week). Not saying he is playin well - there is no excuse for having 0 sacks, dont care about the circumstance; I just think he isn't playing as bad as his stats might indicate. All "great" DE have to deal with double teams and quick passes; there is no doubt that he needs to figure out how to deal with the situation.
GO COLTS!

It will be the usual high-powered Colts offense (No. 3 in the NFL) against the Broncos' No. 4 defense that has surrendered a league-low 7.3 points per game, allowed two TDs, and held five consecutive opponents to single digits.
Holy shit, I knew the Denver D was good, but I didn't realize they were putting up numbers like that!

INDIANAPOLIS: With a large chunk of the undefeated Colts' rushing responsibility on his shoulders, first-round pick Joseph Addai of LSU has produced. The do-it-all performer leads rookies with 28 first downs (21 rushing, seven receiving). Addai is the only rookie with as many as 350 rushing yards (354) and 10 receptions (14) ... From Howard University, sixth-round pick S Antoine Bethea is third on the club with 42 tackles and has started every game.
I'm becoming a believer in this young man. I'm starting to think, come playoff time, our running game in gonna be pretty good.

They are at Denver. Now, I'm not taking anything away from Denver's D, they are totaly kicking ass right now, but, the last three games were:
a win over the Browns 17-7
a win over the Raiders 13-3
a win over the Ravens 13-3
Not what I'd call powerhouse teams when it comes to scoring points. The only win they've had so far over a 'good' team, would be those sissy boys in New England.
With that being said, the Colts really havn't looked all that great this year, I just don't see Denver putting up enough points to outscore the Colts. I'm just a little shocked to see them getting points, but I understand that 'on paper' it's the right call.

I think this is the weekend where the Colts will finally be exposed. They're a good team, but they may be the least impressive 6-0 team I've ever seen. Their most impressive win came in Week 1 against a Giants team that wasn't playing nearly as well as they are now. Since then, they've beaten the 2-4 Texans (at home), the Jaguars (at home), the freakin' Jets by a FIELD GOAL in a game they barely pulled out, the 1-5 Titans by ONE POINT (at home), and the 2-5 Redskins (at home). They remind me of USC... yes, they're winning games, but they look like a shell of their former selves in squeaking past bad and mediocre teams, and you get the impression that once they run into real competition, they'll be exposed. I'm not sure if the Broncos inept offense is capable of putting up enough points to beat you guys, but you WILL be exposed sooner or later.

Well, the only real problem I have with this, is that there's nothing really in need of to be exposed. The Colts are what they are. We don't run very well, and our D is banged up and is playing really bad. That's pretty much it.
I do agree that the Colts have to be the lowest rated team to reach 6-0. I think we can out score Denver, but I won't be shocked to see us get beat this weekend.

I agree, that they are "unimpressive" especially relative to how they have looked the last few years in the regular season, but that is exactly why I like where the Colts are right now - at the halfway point of the regular season. The team is playing "uninspired" football. Their run defense has been a joke so far this year and the offense - is playing sub-par. Both units have had to deal with injuries. With the offense largely having to stick with a 2 TE set w/o the option of spreading the field with a 3 WR set with Stokley being injured for essentially the whole year. The defense has had problems with the middle of their D-line and now having both their safeties out with injuries. With all this, the Colts are still 6-0; they are having to WORK and work hard for their wins (as opposed to the last few years in the regular season) which is a very good thing for this team as a "warm-up" for the playoffs where games are going to be decided at the end of the game. I'd rather have Indy steadily improve throughout the year instead of "peaking" too early in the season.
I disagree that Indy will be "exposed" - they've been "exposed" already - their pathetic run defense has been exposed and the sense of "invincibility" is gone for Manning and Co. Their defense, when healthy, is basically the same defense they had last year with the exception of Gardner now playing at LB - and that defense was a top ten team in terms of points allowed. While the defense is nowhere near the top of the league, I do think they can play better especially when given the chance of a cohesive first unit being able to play together. The offense - I think everyone knows that they can and will play even better as the season (hopefully extending into the post-season) progresses.
Basically, the Colts are 6-0 DESPITE playing well below what they are capable of. Yes their opponents have not been the best but they do play in the weakest division in the league, but they have played the Giants, Jets, and Jax (when they were healthy) which I think are all solid teams. The Colts will only get better as the season progresses and will hopefully hit their stride and peak right at post-season time which will be bad news for the rest of the league. If I were an opposing team, I'd rather see the Colts roll through the regular season unchallenged and peaking too early.
With that being said, I don't have a good feeling for this afternoon's game; although if we were to lose one of the next two tough games I'd rather lose to DEN than NE.
GO COLTS!

Man, I come in here to intentionally stir things up and give you guys a little excitement, and you AGREE with me! You guys are right though... if I'm a Colts fan, I'm thrilled with the fact that they're 6-0 despite not really playing great football yet. McFarland should help the run D, and Joseph Addai should only get better as the season goes on. Yeah... pretty embarassing stuff. It seems like every week (other than the Chiefs game), either the offense or defense plays great while the other side basically gives the game away. I still don't understand why Freeney and Mathis have to bolt up the field after the QB every damn play. Dungy and Meeks need to do something about about the defensive scheme of the ends just running up the field on every down. The opposing teams are just either running delay plays, waiting for the ends to run up field then they just stroll through the gaping hole left by Mathis or Freeney. Or RBs are just cutting back to the lanes left by the DE. Seriously, the defense is making every RB they play look like future hall of famers. Their needs to be some sort of discipline on the edges. I don't know maybe their thinking is that the LB is suppose to fill the holes they leave by running up the field but so far it ain't workin. It is literally starting to hurt to watch the defense try to stop the run!
Alright sorry enough bitchin'. Another solid win by our beloved Colts. How many games have we won at the end now......3-4 games? The Indianapolis Colts are CLUTCH, and I'm lovin' it. The thing is, I really think it can get much better with Stokley adding another dimension to the offense. Our spread set is filled by Clark at slot, he is a very good TE but he does not have the speed or quickness that Stokley can provide, hopefully he gets back soon.
About the RBs. I like what Indy is doing - which is basically saving Addai's legs for the post-season. It is obvious who is the better runner but if they give this guy 20-30 carries a game, he will not have the same explosiveness come playoff time. The guy is a rookie, who shared carries at LSU in college - he does not need to be "gassed" every game. I'd rather have Rhodes and Addai share the workload through the season and have Addai (with fresh legs) be the primary back in the post-season. So no more bitchin' from me about Rhodes.
Back to the defense - I really think we have the personnel (when healthy) to be relatively decent (there is no excuse for the way they have looked against the run - it's pathetic), I just think they need to be more disciplined when playing the run - "stay home" (seriously how many cut back runs have we seen this season) and contain!
BIG WIN - I like the way the Colts are winning, it will definitely help come post-season.
GO COLTS!

That's one of the weaknesses of the Cover 2 scheme. When you have the linebackers to make plays it works, but I don't think you guys have that. I think you'll see a difference once Booger get used to playing with the rest of the front 7.

That's the problem, it ain't workin. If the talent does not suit the "scheme' there needs to be some sort of adjustment - it is obviously not working.
Other teams use cover 2 defense but I have not seen any other ends who come up the field as agressively and consistently as Freeney and Mathis.
I think it also has alot to do with the Colts playing close games this year. Last year, opposing teams were forced to pass b/c they were behind so much - which is not the case this year.

I'm just looking for a little discipline - I agree they can't change the scheme, I'm sure the defensive problems are much more complex than what the avg. fan such as myself sees, but as many times as I have seen 15-20 yard delay, draw, and cut back running plays that blow right by the ends, it is driving me insane.

The big thing is that you don't have a Derrick Brooks or Urlacher cleaning up the messes created by the guys up front.
As small as Freeney and Mathis are they have to play super fast because lineman are going to murder them if they get locked onto them.

^^ Not sure about the game time being moved.
I have a thought about Dungy. He is still known as this great defensive coach. But the Colts have never had much of a defense since he's been here. They've been better at times and worse at times (now being worse), but never great like the Bucs were. Yet the Colts consistently have one of the best, if not THE best offenses in the league. Will he go down in history as a great offensive or defensive coach?

No, your dad is right. It's called "flex scheduling"... basically, NBC can pick a game to show for Sunday night football (the first one they moved to Sunday night was Bears-Giants). One rule regarding flex scheduling that most people aren't aware of is that a team is only allowed to play four primetime games... therefore, no Steelers games could be moved to Sunday night football. The Colts may be in the same situation, I'm not sure.

Wow, that it interesting. I had not heard that part. The Colts only had 3 primetime games at the start. The "Manning Bowl", next week with the Pats, and then the Monday Nighter with Cinci. So, I guess maybe they're looking at 4 different games, with intent to move one of them.
Thanks for the 'rule' info.

Good point, the Steelers/Falcons game was a good one. It sucked 'cause I missed the OT in that game. We were watching it while tailgating for the Colts game that weekend and went inside for the game just as the Steelers were getting ready for OT. The Denver game was great also, I almost couldn't stand to watch the end of that one.

Oh, and it won't matter because the score won't be close enough for him to have to do that. When there's 2 seconds left in a game and you're losing 31-17, a field goal doesn't really matter.

Nice win. What the hell happened to Vinateri?
Brady, like the rest of the league, presses way too much when playing the Colts because they feel like they have to score on every possession.
Sanders was dynamite tonight - amazing hits.
And that first down was bullshit - first of all, that was too close to call without a measurement and second of all, the ref. who was BEHIND the play was the one that made the call - bullshit.
AFC will come down to Indy and NE, NE is a very good team. With these two teams - it's really a matter of "any given Sunday"
The only downside is going to be the media bullshit that is going to come down to Indy about the whole undefeated season - I personally don't give a shit - #1 seed is Indy's fate, that's all I care about.

Watch out the Chargers may beat the Colts in the playoffs. I can see LT rushing for 200 yards on them.
if they make the playoffs, their schedual down the stretch is actually really tough. denver x2, at bengles, KC, at seattle, at buffalo in december. the could easily go 2-6 if they fall appart.
but yes, if they make the playoffs with a fully tuned offense and a healthy defense they can beat anybody.

No shit - it's week 9; any team MAY be able to beat the Colts, and if there was a team to beat Indy in the playoffs it is going to be NE with Brady and not SD with Rivers.

i agree, it will be SD with LT, Gates, Merriman and Williams. :lol
the best 3 players at their positions in the NFL. with Merriman one of the best dl/lb out there.

Almost the same thing that was said last year. No Colts fan thought the Steelers would beat them last year.

Good point but I'm going by odds - just because it happened last year with a young QB has no bearings this year. The fact that it happened last year does not increase the chances of a young QB doing it again this year. Don't get me wrong, SD is def. a contender but Tom Brady and NE have been through all this before.
All this SB talk and post-season talk is still early - I'm just worryin' about the Colts keeping the #1 seed.

SD definitely has the ability to beat the Colts come playoff time but if I had to pick as to which team is most "able", I'd have to pick NE.

The majority of the teams with the best record or #1 seed the last 9 or so years has not made it to the Super Bowl. I think its like 7 of the last 9 according to Tom Jackson on ESPN's NFL Countdown earlier on Sunday.

Brady forced the issue for no reason early and threw a lot of one hoppers. They should have run the ball much more than they did.

Again - I hate all the bullshit and how the media hypes up every little thing during the season. How many "flavors of the month" have we had this year for the SB, it's pathetic.
I will never root against the Colts but a loss or two (while still keeping the #1 seed) won't bother me too much.

oh and my heart just sank to see a 3rd string rookie MLB play tonight - What was Bracket's injury - surely it wasn't serious
And when the hell is Stokley playing again?

He was pressing and trying to do too much. Can't blame him either - with Colts, I'm sure the opposing offense will always feel like they have to score on every possession; although NE defense held their own in the second half.
:lol with those INTs you almost have to give some credit to Manning - wow, that guy can really do it all I guess.

i bet you still watch though. during the baseball season i try not to, cuz they usually rag on the padres.

Well if you are a Sports fan, you are really can't avoid ESPN. The only other option I have is Fox Sports Midwest :lol - but I will be flipping to another channel when ESPN and it's "experts" start to "overhype" and "over-expose" the Colts

Man, what a weekend of great football! There were quite a few good games, a bunch of 'upsets too'.
How crazy was that Washington game? Who would have thought the Fins would go in and control the Bears like that? Let's not forget about the Steelers game either, I'm very shocked at the trunovers the Steelers had in that game. And then another great game by the Colts to cap in all off.

Oh, but he does, and he did.
I get what you're saying. I hate when the Colts lose because Manning just has a really bad game, but the rest of the team plays well. But still, embarrasing? So what you're saying is there is no way the Pats should have lost to the Colts, that the Colts are a really bad team, the fact that they were 7-0 coming into the game ment nothing? Please....they just got beat by a good team.
Now the Bears......that's embarrasing.

I think pretty much any team that's able to jump out to a quict lead is got the Bears number. Rex did not look good playing with out a lead.

The last one. I was on the phone with her and i think this is how it went:
"2:00 to go.....no time outs...holy shit we could tie this and go into over time! 25 YARD PASS HOLY SHIT GO TOMMY GO! THEY MIGHT DO IT!!!! Wait.....NO! what?! WHERE ARE YOU THROWING THAT!? FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!! !!!!"
:lol I laughed. I was really upset, but her commentary is always the best.

And what about Stokley! Is he coming back this year? First it was his ankle and then his knee

The Colts won because NE decided to suck ass, or, more specifically, the Pats offense decided to suck ass. 4 of those 5 picks were a Pats player not holding onto the ball.
But,
