I was raised in a home where my dad was simply, well, a real creep. It was what I was used to...in a weird way, comfortable with. The drama, the craziness. It took me a long time to see that it's much nicer to be with a man who shows respect and truly cares about me. I have a nice guy in my life now, he is my best friend and we share so many of the same passions about what we feel is important in the world. I was pleasantly surprised with how lovely it feels to be with someone like this. I would never go back.

I did that too. My step father is an alcoholic and didn't treat my mother or us (7kids) very well. It was all mental abuse. I went through a spell of being used, lied to ..... I was fortunate to find my husband, I was lucky that I didn't leave him like I thought I might at one point , because he was too easy, too good to me.

Very true...wow, we have 7 kids too. My biological father was the alcoholic...my stepdad came in when I was 14 and was the best thing that ever happened to my family. I adore him...what a wonderful man and a great example of what a somewhat normal life should be like. I simply cannot imagine life without my dad's influence and support. :)

You are lucky he came, My biolgical father was rarely in the picture, my 1st step father was killed in a car accident on hi way home from his girlfriends house, and then there is the one I have now. It is a wonder I don't have some kind of hatred for men, but I don't . I did have 2 wonderful uncles, maybe that helped.

Hey, without a Whole Foods in your area, you might want to try the Bigelow brand of teas. They're cheap (can be found at most supermarkets) and worth more than you pay for. They started out making the usual stuff (english black, earl grey, this one with orange rinds, etc.) Now they've got a long line of Herbal (like Hibiscus and Chamomile) and Green Teas (like plain Green, Green with Peach, Green with Mango, et al). I don't recommend the Tazo line of teas. Outside of their bad-ass black iced tea blend, (rated #1 by Men's Health:D ) most of their teas are horrifically dry. They have one called Joy (which comes out every Christmas) and another called Zen (available year round). Those aren't bad, in my opinion.
